By the let it be known I would be cool with it if this game ended this expac. I don’t need this game to justify my existance.
No there was an interview in mop and a major reason for lfrs introduction was to increase the justification to make raids as from an assets point of view they were a huge amount of work for a relatively small amount of use.
Well a quick google search disagrees.
Must not have been really looking then.
Note this quote,
Or this part,
The context is it creates more content for all. Casual, and harcore, ALIKE.
This is taken out of context. Blizz obviously wants raiding at its core. And if you don’t wanna do it, its the wrong game for you.
If you are going to cherry pick, atleast do it right.
Oh boy. We’re going around in a lot of circles and I’m not sure how because we actually agree with most stuff related to WoW, like no raid gear for world content, raiders should never loose a tier, don’t hop into group content you aren’t prepared for, etc.
It’s just everything else, lol. And puzzles, and riddles and all sorts of things like that absolutely are a type of game. Not a video game, but a game nonetheless. What else would we call it? An “activity designed to promote the experiance and continuance of fun?” Come on, lol.
Well now we are branching off into the wide, weird world of philosphy. What is life? Is it a thing you have? Or a thing you do?
When I say take a break from life, I only mean, taking a break from the more tedious parts of it. It’s not a very precise expression admittedly.
Why should you care though if world players are chasing powerless transmog recolours?
I understand raiders don’t like these systems because they feel like extra work to grind out in world content, no? What if the enhancements were tied to world content only and therefore unnessary for you to bother with?
The arguement is not “what is a casual?”… the arguement is “casuals do not want mythic gear for logging in…” You could replace the world casual with solo players, world explorers, players that do not do high end content…
I don’t know. I feel pretty sure there were other reasons… I wish I could remember where I saw that. Might be wrong though. Maybe it was players who said it and I’m remembering wrong.
Appreciating a game you have fun with is not needing it to justify your existance, lol.
Ahhhh… thank you! Good to know I’m not crazy and really did remember it! Thank you!
How about, a puzzle. And a riddle?
Its simple. Its all encompassing. You cannot escape it except when its over.
If thats all the were asking for then I wouldn’t care.
That would never work, borrowed power systems have been grossly over powered at every implementation.
Like the other guy who posted a link and cherry picked parts out of it that made it difficult to pick up the context?
And this is where its out of context.
What progression did they have at the games peak popularity point? Certainly a lot less than they have now.
So you agree that my entire response to your statement was true. I said nothing at all about it bringing in new players - you just kind of self-inserted that in then threw in the laughing emoji like it was some kind of “gotcha” moment to my response that never even mentioned a word about new players. Thanks for clarifying.
Nope.
I did because the old systems don’t work.
You said this game is acclaimed and it isn’t.
Hmm, so all these awards don’t exist? Best PC game, best multi-player game, best RPG, most addictive game, winner of the 59th Annual Technology & Engineering Emmy Awards for advancing the art form of MMORPG games, best art direction, best original music, 11th of the top 200 games of all times, and to top it off, it’s in the World Video Game Hall of Fame.
Yep, you’re right, not acclaimed at all!
Old awards don’t mean the game is still acclaimed. This game once had 11 million active subs…It is a far cry from that now.
We still counting the millions of weekly Chinese subs in that?
Only stating what used to be reported by the company itself.
It’s still a game that’s highly acclaimed (I can provide specific references if you like) and has won many awards. Awards don’t go away, lol. Again, my statement was 100% correct.
You’re the one talking about current sub numbers/new player information (which, for the record, I have said exactly zero about) like you have some kind of insider information that only Blizzard has. But hey, what should I expect, it’s GD. No one keeps on topic, especially if they’ve been proven wrong.
Yeah, years old awards still matter…
Go read the financials it’s available to everyone.
Why do you guys keep comparing retail to a version of the game that was launched 10 plus years ago? Who cares what there was and wasn’t to do in the game in 2008, this a silly deflection meant to try to make excuses for the lack of content now.
WoW is getting it’s butt kicked when it comes to content that isn’t raiding and M+ by the other big MMOs.
People love to crap on those games, saying they don’t hold a candle to WoW, but the reality is, Blizzard is losing players to their competition, because those games are offering content for the majority.
Blizzard made their bed a long time ago with how they designed the game, having all the player progression tied to instance content, it didn’t matter in 2008, because the game was easy, and the group content was aimed at you average MMO player, so most of the player population was kept busy in the instance content.
These days the raid mechanics are just overly convoluted, and M+ is a toxic cesspool of elitism, the chill gamer really doesn’t have much in the way of interesting content in WoW if you don’t want to slam your head against this type of content.
WoW is heading the way of Wildstar, and the only thing keeping it going now is the remaining hardcore players. I will give this game maybe 1 or 2 more expansions if they don’t start making changes.
Casablanca didn’t suddenly stop being an acclaimed movie because it won it’s Academy Award almost 80 years ago, lol.
Oooh, so the financials post current and up-to-date new player information? Interesting, but ultimately irrelevant to the point that I actually made and you addressed. But I’m sure you’re just going to keep moving the goalposts because you can’t stand not being right lol.
Glad you agree the game is irrelevant now a days.
You know where you can put your goal posts right?
