You shouldn't be able to solo old raids/dungeons

I doubt if anyone agrees with you… We already have timewalking.

OP isn’t wrong.

A lot of people simply don’t care about raiding anymore because they can go collect the cool stuff next expansion, easily and solo.

Everyone gets one, whatever it is.

It’s also why my most coveted items can no longer be obtained, forever.

WoW no longer offers much in the way of actual gameplay anymore.

It’s old.

Collectibles are all people play for, so at least I’m proud I’ve “won” on that front.

WoW has never been about what you have, but rather when you have it.

This puts Blizz in a Catch-22. Leave things in and people say “Eh, I’ll just farm it next expansion, too much effort to do it now.” Make them time-sensitive and they say “You won’t get me with your FOMO, Blizz.” The real question I’d like answered is: what % of the population consitutes those who say the former? Because if it’s any significant amount, it tells me the root impetus behind playing the game in the first place is now receding into the background for a lot of people. I know I’m one of them. I haven’t cared to do anything relevant in a loooong time. That’s a problem.

So what about this person?

XD Oh, I’m sorry! I can’t imagine how long it’s going to take to form a raid group to get the Ashes of Al’ar which has such a low droprate and will only drop for one person!
Imagine! XD Especially in Live!

One of your alternate accounts is my guess.

Again people might disagree with my idea but not with me.

While I understand the premise of your perspective I don’t agree with the assertion. There’s a pretty big population of players who would be happy never having to run current group content let alone trivial past content. There’s hope that WoW might one day adopt a system like FF’s Trust system where you can run dungeons with a party of NPCs just to avoid the potential (if not statistically inevitable) probability of landing in a bad group with randoms. I concede to the argument that they could form their own groups of friends, but not many people see a need to go through the trouble of that for content that’s looooooong since expired.

For starters, not only do I disagree with your stance, but I somewhat advocate for the opposite: To instead be able to solo current content bosses.

Believe me, if I could solo Sark 10 times per week on my characters for the mount chance, I would. I can’t, and instead run it 10 times on LFR. It’s miserable not seeing the mount drop because of ye old 0.1% drop rate.

Do you want to know how many attempts it took me for the Charhound from Antorus? Over 600. If I wasn’t able to solo the hounds, I wouldn’t have chased that mount.

Similarly, after 50 attempts of bashing my head against the Sark wall for that mount, I’ll just wait for it to become soloable.

What you’re advocating for would make people leave the game faster than you could imagine. Because then you’re taking the point of the game (collecting) and making it require more people, where they definitely wouldn’t want to do that.

I think this should be an option, but not an exclusive thing. If people want to farm them for transmogs, then that’s great. If they want to go in for the challenge, then that could be an interesting option, too. This is why I think all dungeons should have a slider for the type of challenge the player is looking for.

However, making dungeons so that they can be farmed when they’re old should be a given and not taken away.

To further pile onto the sentiment from my earlier reply to this, guess what I felt after I got the Charhound?

Relief that I never had to run the raid again. Imagine multiplying that stress by 10-25 people because they all want the mount too.

It wouldn’t be an “oh so grandiose adventure” that you’re making it seem like. It would lead to very quick burnout, like my current burnout with Sark.

Ummm nope. It should be easy and no scaling. Scaling is making the game bad
