Amazing every “logical” reason here is wrong. There’s no way Dead Mines or SH scaled up to current level will increase value or desire for old content. Besides time walking in a sense serves this purpose, waiting still for vanilla wow time walking
Old content is just that old, however, there’s is a community of people that mog, gold farm, etc that make use of it , why ruin their play enjoyment for the benefit of some elses? Blizzard already does enough of that with pvp, mythic+, and class balances.
No, there are quite a few of us who don’t have your talent, skill, time. We also play WOW for relaxation, the beauty of it. So, we are willing to wait 2 years to go back and solo. You really have a problem with that? Because YOU want to be “challenged” all the time at dare devil level? Some of us grow up and chill. We appreciate WOW for understanding that. You have the new content, go and enjoy.
Ok, so as someone who didnt start playing WoW until Shadowlands really, I couldnt disagree with your premise more. Here’s the big issue, cosmetic items from years ago that have low drop rates and poor loot balancing dont need to also be made harder to get. I can run a dungeon on 20 alts sure, but those alts are all gonna have at least half of the armor they pick up unusable and so unmoggable. On top of that the “prestigious” mounts like Invincible have ridiculously reduced drop rates after their expansions end. So when I finally got Invincible I can assure you it wasnt “handed to me” as you’ve claimed people want it. I ran ICC a good 1000 times without getting it to drop bc RNGsus hates me. On top of that requiring the need of a party will only make it less likely people cam grind these old raid out and they will probably all be abandoned entirely. IDK what your schedule looks like but I imagine most WoW players are adults with full time jobs on varying schedules and maybe even have kids. It isnt 2004 anymore where you only have school and a little homework then no life the game. If I have to pick between raiding current content with usable loot or forming a party to try and farm mogs and mounts with maybe 1 person getting said mount after 100 attempts I’m just gonna farm current. The only way your premise would remotely work is if the raids all dropped loot the level of modern raids that would be usable making it worth running with better drop rates then they have now. But needing a party of 5 just means that 4 people leave the raid disappointed when Invincible finally drops all so some “veteran players” can feel some superiority over a digital item that has no value already due to it being simply code that could easily be lost or erased.
Personally I think they should just remove the weekly lockout on old content and let us run it as much as we want to farm old content collectibles. If I wanna run a 10 year onld raid back to back all day until i get all the transmogs I should be able to.
With how many times in Wrath my old guild imploded in Ulduar, it is sweet to solo it and laugh. Guess who finally got Firefighter you bastards. Won’t bench me anymore.
I think me after trying for the past 6 years on 20 characters can say when i get invicible that i truly earned it from just sheer determination/stubburness.
But yes this is exactly how to become the most hated person in game, it doesnt matter that you can solo run old raids, but fun fact running raids up to 2 expansions prior still require at least a small group, and if you want acheavements for the raid at certain diffulties, some require multiple people to complete the acheavement. So yes many things are still needing groups inside the old raids and dungeons.
You realize tge amount of work would be needed to tune every raid to work with current expansion powers? This would require indefinite amount of extra work which would increase subscription cost. Then add in having 50+ raids that you can do only weekly and lets say an hour each raid, you would not be able to find a group to run old raids for gear you couldnt use anymore. If you could use old content hear that scales to current expansion content you would see to many people using the op trinkets and weapons resulting in current content being even easier.
And no, most would not want this, you can keep telling yourself this but it will never be true. The people who want this already have discord and game communities that lovk thier characters levels at the raid level they want so they can run the raid at the scale level it was intended for with no scaling needing to be done
The old content is unavoidably cheapened after a level-appropriate player or players finish it completely, numerous times, before moving on to the next expansion. After that, it’s not “fun” but simply “there.” Going back for that transmog or mount (which only dropped once per run and 5 - 15 players rolled for it and only one got it) shouldn’t require scaling or other compensatory difficulty modes just to get that one (or maybe two) items. It’s old, out-dated, irrelevant content. Only the drops have any meaning.
Why does the fact people can run old content to farm gear that no longer has any bearing on the game for transmog bother you so much? Making those old items harder to get is not going to reinvigorate the game. All it’s going to do is alienate a large subset of the players and cause those players to quit.
