I think they’re trying too hard in Ashes of Creation. They spend a lot of time on stuff like making it so you can chop down any tree and said trees look super realistic when they come down. The game will be released in about 15 years at this rate.
Two years realistically.
Maybe, but I think Ashes of Creation is going to be too hard core for most people.
I’ll give it a try for sure but for how long that remains to be seen.
I mean, it incorporates a lot of OG mmo ideas tbh. I don’t see it as that crazy. Having cities developed based on player choice, no factions, guilds can wage conflicts, you can participate in professions (very well designed), naval combat, group combat generally, bounty system for trolls who try to camp players that offers rewards via corruption system. I think a lot of the detail being used is pretty unique. Limited flying mounts, unique raids underwater, above water, on land, etc. Its all very in depth and thought out.
Maybe it flops, I am hopeful, but i’m not on a hype train. I’m reserved about any game’s release, but I also don’t have the “whipped dog” mentality that “Reees” in the forum lol.
Idk, I’ve seen many guilds already recruiting and preparing for Ashes, hundreds of them with hundreds of players. It seems to have significant amounts of support generally.
Yes, effectively this. Now mind you, I’ve played PvP, it can be fun and intense but there’s a painful learning curve, especially if you’re later into the game.
And it’s not fun to constantly be the punching bag and there’s always going to be those ready to gack you. And hence no ability (or incentive) to improve and so…the death spiral down.
For many people, they’re looking for entertainment, escape and not more frustration in their lives and investing the time and patience to ‘gear up’ to play.
Competition is good. The more Blizzard has, the harder they will try and the better they will make the game, or die.
Either option is acceptable.
…Okay. What about them?
Ahh yes, nothing reminds me of Ubisoft huge open world games like this phrase, map size. /s
As for graphics, it… kind of looked generic honestly. Infact, this looks like if New World heavily leaned into the fantasy direction.
…I often lie awake on my bed from time to time, worrying about the business side of MMO’s and wondering how that poor CEO can get that sweet dollar bill from that sacred retention. /s
You’ve literally asked the impossible while Ashmongold is channeling his inner ‘Nicholas Cage playing Jesus Christ’ look in the video.
Well if it falls on its face because of that.
We can all laugh and hope other MMOs don’t follow the formula.
People flagged the OP.
OmegaKEK
A crowd-funded game that’s been in development for several years, has at least two more to go, and is already selling very expensive pre-order packs for players.
Shucks, I wonder where I’ve heard of that before? I can’t quite put my finger on why someone would be suspicious of AoC.
What did the OP even say?
What?
I demand a rewrite.
If you don’t want to believe the hype around AoC, I don’t blame you. I’m leery of the hype around it myself. I think it has potential, but how it ultimately turns out will remain to be seen.
But what you did is act like it’s somehow suspicious that it’s still multiple years out from any potential launch and they haven’t given an estimated launch window, when games don’t give launch estimates multiple years out.
You can see progress in their monthly live streams. Now had they taken money and said nothing, after a few years, of nothing I’d be suspicious too, but it’s clear they’re actually working on the game.
Okay this made me laugh.
Also: I’ve skimmed this thread and I have no idea what game this is or what the issue is we’re talkin’ about. >.>
Some of us will never try these “new” games. WoW is the only MMO for me. I quit WoW, I quit MMORPG games
I play both and I feel my investment is far more valued on Classic than anything I could do on Retail.
A PvP centric game that still doesn’t actually exist yet.
WoW has bigger things to worry about.
That is how the game was back then too. I just have no desire to do it again.
Yeah like figure out a talent tree they just readded to the game, knowing that they took it out because they couldn’t make it work.
Trial and error over 20 years. The decline on the charts is noticeable.
