From experience, I can tell you that by time the Hillsbrad war takes off you’ll quickly realize the risk of not winning the fight is a dead Tarren mills. Your journey will be littered with dead flight masters, dead inn keepers, dead vendors and just general death all around. On bad days you can’t find an Auctioneer because they’re dead. You might need to travel to Gadget for a bank to unload in, only to then mule it to the main bank once it respawns. Death, dead NPCs and more dead things for all. Forever…
the problem is you are afraid to ask for help to appear strong. but that isn’t how being strong works.
The only time I’ve seen it get actioned (and I don’t remember that even being a ban) was when someone was following my guildies around, camping them and killing NPCs. As in, they got camped and quest givers were killed, they left for another zone and the ganker then followed them to continue camping them. At that point it can be seen as harassment and not just PvP, but you have to be pretty dedicated to doing that and plan on actually harassing some lowbie vs just killing them a few times and a few /spit emotes.
On a PvP realm nothing should have happened with this.
Perfect, so then it’s PvE.
Are you saying I can get banned for PvE now?
King Lil Jay #00 " Why" (EDIT & SHOT BY @Killa_CanonBoiz) (PROD. @IAMSMYLEZ)
It was RP-PvP, maybe they got flagged for “disrupting RP” then, I dunno. The guy did follow them around for like 6 hours through multiple zones though. They were trying to get away and continue questing but kept getting followed, that’s why it was harassment from my understanding.
That should be fine unless you are doing it 24/7. Do it for a bit and move on somewhere else.
Yeah, like I said it was hours and across multiple zones. They even changed over to the other continent and still got followed. I dunno what they did to piss that guy off but it was a little ridiculous.
No you can not be band for pvp
Me too. PvP is one thing, extortion is a whole other thing and crosses the line.
Whole point is that you can kill them as part of a normal, aka non-griefing, style of pvp. There does come a point that your pvp transitions from emergent gameplay into pure griefing for the sake of causing others misery. At this point you cease to be a valuable customer and contributor to the community and become a genuine menace. Hence you get banned.
In the real world we call these people “criminals” and lock them up or give them fines.
Someone can correct me if I’m wrong, but the only pvp thing I knew for sure you could be banned/suspended for was “rooftop camping” in towns and stuff where guards could not reach you if you were killing players or NPCs in town.
This was a problem in places like Gadgetzan.
If you intentionally got to a place where players could not reach you (which a lot of the rooftop was) then on PvP servers you could get in trouble. If you intentionally got to a place where Guards could not get to you then on Normal servers you could get in trouble.
Small but important distinction.
If you’re going for any PvP ranks, I’d highly advise against killing questgivers in Classic.
This is false information. You will not get banned. Someone was just trying to spread fake news. My advice, go and camp quest givers even more now! Make us Alliance suffer! Just know that there will be a squadron of bad asses coming for revenge!
I bet you’re fun at parties.
This for sure. Some NPCs have little no hp and killing them gives Dishonorable kills, huge killer on getting pvp rank.

Not true, I remember hearing it happening to people, thought it was very rare and the person in question had been exceptionally disruptive.
Killing quest givers is not bannable. Those people probably were saying nasty stuff as well. If Blizzard did not want players to kill NPCs, they would not be attack-able. In the end, you will not get banned for killing quest givers. End of story!
