Yo blizzard this MMR system needs a full rework

It’s really simple. They need to ease the difficulty of all titles (excluding maybe rank 1) by a slight bit, and add in some additional check points. There can’t be spots in the ladder where pushing to the next reward feels like an impossibility. For example, you may have really struggled to hit 2100 in RSS and finally got it…next reward is 2400. Most people are just gonna either stop playing at that point or hang it up till the last week. That isn’t good!

As everyone on these forums has said already, they need a return to a percentage-based reward structure, but it needs to be based on live rankings, not an “end of season only” reward. Then inflation/deflation etc will not matter. I’d suggest a 2-3 week time period (pre-season) at the beginning of the season that allows people to jockey for position before rewards are turned on. This would keep people from simply getting gladiator at 33cr by simply being the first to win a ranked 3v3 match.

Like I stated above, I’d suggest rewards be eased up in exclusivity just a slight bit, and additional checkpoints added. Something like this:

Rank 1 - top .25% -
Gladiator - top 1%
Elite II - top 2%
Elite - top 3%
duelist II - top 5%
duelist - top 6%
Rival II - top 12%
Rival - top 15%
Challenger II - top 25%
Challenger - top 35%
Combatant II - top 45%
Combatant - top 55%
Initiate - top 65%

  • numbers could change a bit but you get the idea

They also need to just add more cosmetic awards and exclusives that require a certain amount of games played in 2v2, 3v3, RSS, Blitz. Like something unlocked at 50 games played, 100 games played etc. Then these rewards should be updated/changed each season. This would encourage casuals to queue and just encourage overall participation in each bracket without making PVE’ers feel it’s a requirement.

We’re going towards that route, but Russia has historically been really bad in comparison.

I agree woth the general sentiment. I just think catering to pvers in pvp will make the whole pvp scene feel like rss but dumber (if u even can fathom that). I’d like to streamline gear accross all aspects of the game, so everyone can jump into any content whenever they please.

My main argument is that more people should have a chance at getting the mount instead of the top elite.

That doesn’t mean someone stepping into the arena for the first time. I’m talking about the guy who’s duelist every season, who if made a serious push, could get glad.

wym shadowlands was sick

Yeah, pvp exclusive cosmetics could bring people in by itself but they would need to be cool enough to make pvers jealous. Exclusive xmogs would be a bigger driver than any glad mount, most people are suckers for a good xmog, including myself.

By pvers I mean, your average pver joe. Parsing in the arenas.

Yeah shadowlands

Well the corrupted-cosmic range in particular :dracthyr_yay_animated:

Oh yeah I forgot :credit_card: :credit_card: :moneybag::money_mouth_face:

Gladiator went from .5% of the ladder to 2400 +50 wins which is WAY easier than it previously been.

It’s supposed to be an ‘elite’ caliber reward.

It’s not supposed to be super easy to get like a vicious mount; add a customizable vicious mount with different tiers of armor dependent on rating instead of dampening rewards.

Honestly, they just need to go back to a % based system & make the glad mount obtainable based on a % static +50 wins.

Static ratings were a mistake they either become too easy or too difficult depending on the participation per season.

Shout out to people who swiped and still didn’t quite make it

If you’re curious what my opinions are, you can scroll up and read them.

I did, hence why I quoted them.

It was pretty stable for dragonflight minus the freebie season that was draconic. This season also seems like it’ll be roughly in line assuming it’s another three months.

Truth ia no one cares about a mount that just labels u as a fotm reroller or a :credit_card: lord. Need to be something different.

:hocho: :hocho: :muscle: :man_elf:

Well there’s one of those of each in this thread .

Joking aside, the answer to fixing the ladder isn’t to make gladiator mount a duelist mount; that will ultimately just kill participation because as you said: no one cares about a mount that you get just for participating (vicious mount).

I’m more inclined to say the vicious mounts need a rework where you can get customizations for them which are unlocked based on ratings one had achieved.

I mean yes & no, in s4 the only reason it got the way it did was Blizzard was pumping mmr into the bracket.

Overall sure I suppose I can agree but tbh I still think a combination system with weekly % goalposts would work way better.

That could work, but I still think transmogs are a bigger incentive than mount and I don’t mean recolors, exclusive pvp mogs that are not trash. May be make vicious saddles to be unlocked at 1800 + but can be used for elite sets from previous seasons.

Nah, old elite sets should be at least duelist

preferably from a less played bracket or for solo queue healers

Ehh, I’m not gunna get into that because everyone on these forums knows my stance on old elites.

However the TLDR from me; recolor older elites & bring them in as 3s rewards around duelist.

I just linked this in another thread, but it could prolly be linked here as well. This was Last updated: 11/14/2024. It’s a ‘living’ document. It gives a pretty clear breakdown on how CR/MMR are currently working.
