Yet ANOTHER Story of LFG Vote Kick Abuse with ZERO Report Option and Consequence for Abuser

The only solution i have towards VTK is lowering the debuff to 15mins that way some players can still be happy with VTK. It’s not really a win win, but’s all i got towards VTK.

I think you replied to the wrong person, my point is that people are unreasonable jerks in general… this is something most folks in ancient society agreed on, after much ruminating on this. The fact of the matter is, the human brain is pretty messed up from the get go, so chocked full of biases that it cannot judge reasonably.

While having a third party mediator (courts and systems of law and democracy) somewhat negate some of these biased views, they do not wholly eliminate them.

“All forms of government are doomed to fail”.

One cannot fully eliminate human fallibility in any situation, merely limit it to the bare minimum.

Yea, reduce it to 15, that’s pretty much the best solution mentioned on here

She has every right to reply to you, whether you like it or not. You do not get to decide who can reply to who. If you don’t like seeing her post, place her on ignore.

Reducing it to 15 minutes is what most of us agree. Dungeons doesn’t even take as long to do, so why the deserter is still 30 minutes, who knows.

They did it on purpose. They don’t reply to me directly but will reply to me indirectly to someone else as a way of avoiding answering questions.

It’s an extremely sophomoric, pouty act and speaks volumes.

I agree that this can be the case for a lot of people. It’s nice to know that there are reasonable people out there but also sad to know that there are so many who aren’t.

I think it’s worth a shot but I still think a pre-programmed drop list of kick reasons is worth a shot too.

What will that do?

No, you replied with a quote. Reread the quote. I wasn’t disagreeing with what you said, just boggled by what the quote claimed and I was replying to this:

It was meant to supplement what you were saying.

I wasn’t even replying to him. I only see what someone quotes or if there’s a reply about me from someone else to him, then I know what’s going on.

Nah, he’d rather just come into these threads to trash me nonsensically.

Yep. Seems to be the best compromise.

Limit what reasons people can kick and force them to stay in a group if that particular reason isn’t listed.

Depending on how it’s implemented? Prevent the most lazy of the kicks. Folks don’t like to read in general, and a lot of kicks are just to remove the popup screen, if you make people READ the popup and reason for the vote, that becomes the new “path of least resistance” (most lazy option).

 this in so fewer words

Isn’t part of their whole kick abuse argument that people just don’t pay attention to what’s said and click yes anyway?

So how would jeffoyn picking the “afk” excuse gunna make it any difference they dont read the reason anyway?

But again, all that does is limit why people can kick. There is no dropdown large enough for the myriad of things that can happen or reasons to remove someone.

The better route is putting a 5 second countdown timer on the “yes” button for those who are incapable of hitting “no” to get a box out of the way.

It’s just a suggestion. Kicks in XIV are very rare and almost every time they happen, it’s because the person went AFK and didn’t come back. That’s the system they use, so that’s why I said it’d be worth a shot. It’d be better to see “AFK” “Harassment”, etc pop up instead of “lol” “lmao” “idiot” “alskjfl” “took my gear” or other idiotic things.

Then again, it could also just be the overall better community.

No, you were replying to me because I was the only one who used that word. Nice try though

Says the person who does this in just about every single thread I see them in. You’re such a huge hypocrite.

I don’t entire agree with the idea of limiting the reasons, I think people should have the same right within the group as to being with a manually formed group, though keeping it as a majority based vote, but changing it from entering a text to select an option would be better. And adding a short timer to the yes for those who claim to only click yes when it pops up to get rid of the box.

I love that pretty much all of these threads screaming abuse just turn out to be pretty normal behavior.

That being said, they should probably take back the 30m debuff from being kicked and leave that for just leaving in general. It was implemented earlier in TWW because people were doing sacbrood runs in ara and leaving if the trinket didnt drop (myself included).

If they really want to keep the debuff for people who get voted out (idk why) then they should just add a flag that gives you deserter if you’re kicked more than x times in a row within y time frame

It wouldn’t, because there is no way to account for all of the problems. Look at the report functionality and how limited that is that people constantly get frustrated with and talk about in CS and elsewhere.

No, the debuff for VTK has been in existence since Wrath.

The debuff for leaving on your own was changed in War Within due to the trinket.

The debuff should be lowered, though. There’s no reason for it to be 30 minutes anymore.

That’s really the root of these threads. If the debuff wasn’t so punitive when groups are literally allowed to make sure someone gets it for no reason, then we’d see a lot less of these threads.

Unfortunately the hivemind on the forums thinks it’s ok to get a 30-minute ban from queued content for quite literally any or no reason.

That’s the thing, people being jerks to others being normal is not a good thing.

If you notice, it’s always the same like 2-3 people.

What I mean by make them read it is to reconfigure the window like one of those contract agreements when you apply for a job, where you can only hit agree/next if you’ve read through the entire thing. Doesn’t even need to be too long, 2-3 sentences even, less than a paragraph.

Should have held your vote until the boss died.

Just a thought if it ever happens again

It’s an example of that behavior persisting in spite of the presence of the debuff. Sure, they get to wait 30 minutes to do it again. The debuff doesn’t intrinsically prevent the behavior. Perhaps such can result in bans, I’m not 100% sure. You’ve clearly been around longer than I have, and have more experience in this area. But the 30 minute debuff isn’t enough in and of itself to prevent degenerate behavior. It does diminish the possibility, but doesn’t eliminate it. Their actions will still impact a bunch of groups if it’s their goal to try to derail them, yet there’s no escalating penalty for continually getting the debuff. There perhaps shouldn’t be, since it would be impossible to determine whether or not it was that player in the wrong, or someone vote kicking without cause.

Yet, tanks or healers refusing to perform their roles isn’t the showstopper it used to be. DPS classes can tank given the proliferation of defensive cooldowns for every class. I have 3 that I can pop as Enh. Four if you count my healing surges doing additional healing when I target myself and burn 10 stacks of Maelstrom. Players trying to be like that tank is merely an annoyance now. It doesn’t actively prevent players from continuing.

The system is broken/outdated, which I’m sure a bunch of people have already mentioned. This may just be an impossible situation where there’s no good solution.
