XP From Dungeons

Unpopular opinion, but this has been my experience. I'm posting this on the LFD Pally that i'm currently leveling. I queued up for one dungeon (DM), Headless Horseman, and Dire Brew only since. The majority of my experience/levels has been through non-dungeon content. I have full heirlooms and have been able to grab xp buffs from both DMF as well as Hallow's End bonfire. I'm going on 1 day /played right now and have just started questing in Dark Shore.

I completed all starter zones near Stormwind, Ironforge, Darnassus, and Exodar. Complete Bloodmyst Island and Loch Modan. During that time, I mined and engaged in pet battles (that got me to level 54). I did this all in Ret (dps) spec, which would have taken more time to level had I only queued for dungeons.

While its been a long time since I leveled a toon from scratch, I do not feel that the time it takes is much longer and considering that i'm already ready for Outland/Northrend content, i'm actually surprised. TBH though, i'm going to stick around and complete all quests on Azeroth to see how many more levels I can squeeze out once questing becomes trivial.
Blizzard is now soliciting feedback from players who have quit. Apparently the company is sending emails to past players asking them for their opinions of BfA.

New president may have something to do with it.

I understand 8.1 will bring back vendors and other means by which to get gear.

Hopefully someone higher up than the devs will look at this steaming pile of B.S. claim about power leveling and fix that too.

From WoW’s earliest days, we’ve always had to take steps to limit experience gains for characters when grouped with someone of a drastically higher level. We recently became aware of a bug introduced in 7.3.5: a side-effect of the vastly expanded creature scaling was causing the logic to break when awarding XP in some situations.

Except power leveling your friends through dungeons has been a thing in game forever and you just now decided to break it while making it sound like it was an unintended bug from 7.3.5.

Not
Cool

I entered Pandaria last night. While in the beginning zone, another player invited me to join a group with him. I thought maybe he needed help. It turned out he was a 110. Instead of getting 1400 xp per kill (with rested experience) I was getting 60 xp.

We can only hope; All I know is somethings gotta give, This game just has lost the magic addictive feeling it once had; At least for me anyway.
oh still no blue post ... back to the front page you go
Dungeons were destroyed in BFA. No exp/rep grinding, and the gear is largely totally useless. So what's the point of running them? With exceptions, they're also badly designed, boring, and not fun.

Thing is they were destroyed way back when patch 7.3.5 was released; Then when BFA was released it just compounded the problem making it even worse.

Even that has been hurt by the 7.5 patch and BFA. you should see the FPS drops I get when I aoe the trash and that's just not something that should be happening with my machine.

Also with scaling heroics are easier than normals, and several bosses dont work correctly due to the way damage is calculated now. Avatar of the Martyred cant be spawned (as far as I know) since 7.5.

So true; Kara trash& it's bosses and heroic BC were solo able and gave great XP as a means to level faster that is until Blizzard caught wind of it and nerfed it in the bud.

Blizzard will do anything to slow down the game so that it looks better on paper in their time metrics but when it comes to us players who had been power leveling for 14 years it suddenly became a problem to them so they nerfed the XP.

It's all about the $$$ they want to take from us by slowing us down.

Sadly it's biting them in the butt, Most players I know that were posting in this thread have gone on to other games were the developers put the FUN in the game and not take it away as Blizzard has done in many ways just so they can pad the pockets with more $$$.
I haven't even logged in for over a month, I tried hard to enjoy a game I paid for but it was a failure on my part.

However I would like to note that Blizzard's reaction to the fans rejecting it's mobile game was (Paraphrasing) "GO TO HELL YOU WILL DO MOBILE GAMES AND LIKE IT AND IT IS DONALD TRUMPS FAULT YOU OUR PC GAMERS DON'T WANT TO PLAY ON MOBILE"

Blizzard essentially doesn't want customers; it wants addicts.

Addicts will be fewer in numbers but they are a garunteed income stream, they will buy whatever Blizzard throws, they take a lot less money to satisfy because they will accept bad/mediocre quality.

Blizzard made a business decision consisting of "!@#$ you you are addicted and will pay us anyway" and it is reflected in game which is why I stopped playing and won't start again.

Fun fact

Blizzard correctly determined that level gating reputation to make rep take longer if you out level the reputation in question was not fun and didn't contribute anything in Burning Crusade so removed the restriction.

Blizzard reinstated that for BFA.
We won.

Ok so we have a reduction in XP to level; What about the amount of XP earned from Dungeons when a higher level is with you? (Which is a big issue for many in this thread) I didn't see a mention of that.

Also what about the amount of XP the NPC's have that are off in many places and are like HP sponges? I didn't see a mention of that either.

I guess we will see what transpires when it is released but with all the cloak and dagger Blizzard has been giving us for almost a year now I'm not getting my hopes up.

My guess is that things wont change with dungeon xp, even though people have been power leveling in dungeons since the burning crusade days, as many vids out there on the internet prove. Overall I am glad they have finally addressed at least one of the issues people have had with xp since 7.3.5.

Pop champagne* We are the Champions!
The exp reduction is great wish they did it sooner. Now I'll finally level all these allied races I started.
keep in mind thats only ptr right now, they done this before and then reverted it right before the live patch
