X-realm bgs can NOT be a thing

No. Putting time limits and resources killed Bgs. As long as there’s no time limits or resources in AV (though there might be) it will be fine. Though Bgs are still thriving in retail so I’d say nothing really killed them.

We are not getting resources in AV or any of the limits added to WSG. The only BG with a time limit will be AB but that’s the way the map works.

You’re missing the point. Without mercenary mode, horde queues on retail would be horrific (again). Classic doesn’t have mercenary mode. Do you understand yet?

You are missing the point…on retail Horde have the advantage with PvP, PvE and utility racials.

On Classic Horde have the advantage with PvP racials and Alliance have the advantage with PvE racials.

So? You think all those alliance raiders are suddenly going to queue BG’s non stop? lol. Before you mentioned everyone wanting r14 weapons…like 0.001% of the server can get those weapons.

When the best PvE gear requires PvP, you betcha they’ll participate in BGs. Especially AV rushes.

0.1% not 0.001%. This means 1 out of 1000 people. On my server this is roughly 10-16 people for alliance and about 20-24 for horde and that’s just active pvpers.

Ok great, those extra 10-16 alliance queuing BG’s is really going to reduce those horde queue times significantly.

Yeah some alliance will want AV exalted for sure. But no so much for WSG / AB.

You don’t understand the honor system.

You don’t understand the BG system.

You aren’t even worth arguing with tbh. I’ll be sure to come back to this thread on December 10th when all the horde queue time crying floods the forums tho. Cya then!

Maybe you don’t understand the honor system?

Unlike on retail you can’t just spend honor you accumulate slowly. You have to hit a certain rank per week to qualify for gear, that requires playing a minimum amount per week because at the higher ranks not only do you need a minimum amount of honor but only a certain number of people can be at that rank so there’s a huge weekly requirement to get the gear there which if you don’t meet makes getting honor/ranks entirely pointless.

Now the various BG’s do have rep rewards which you can work towards but the ones for AB and WSG are pretty weak, only AV really has great BG rewards.

Phase 2 prediction - Spot on as usual back in September.

Phase 3 prediction - It only gets to #7, not even top 5.

We’re on 1.12.

World of Warcraft Client Patch 1.12 - Drums of War

Cross-Realm Battlegrounds

For the first time in the history of World of Warcraft, you will be able to face off against players from other realms in the Battlegrounds.

Even this change implied there was a long and established history that was changing with this patch. That’s why there’s a contention even though it is a Vanilla thing. For example in Vanilla, we’ve had WSG, AB, AV for more than a year before x-servers happened.

The argument isn’t for having it versus not having it, the argument is to introduce it in a later phase. Like phase 4 or 5.

I still think the best solution is to just havethe option for CRBG’s or same realm only when you queue.

Everyone wins that way.

What? Like making x-realm BG opt-in? If x-realms are available, you use them. There’s no incentive to same server queue if pugs will x-server and premades will x-server. Unless you are doing some wargames style stuff, there’d be no use for it.

The point is, the best PvE gear is PvP gear for a lot of classes. And the only reason most people PvP is for the gear.

While PvP servers tend to have more players doing battlegrounds, there are a significant number of people on PvP servers who have zero interest in PvP, and who only play there because of friends/family. Likewise there are a significant number of people on PvE servers who are there for friends/family or because they love PvP but hate world PvP because they consider it to be stupid ganking.

In my experience, the main difference between PvE servers and PvP servers is that PvP servers just tend to have better players, because all the tryhards go to PvP servers. PvE servers are full of casuals.

And because PvE servers are full of casuals, it’ll actually be much easier to rank on them than on PvP servers.

But people have been telling us how much more fun same realm only BG’s are. Certainly that would be enough for to opt in to them right? Unless they’re admitting most people don’t really care about same realm only…

Until you get into the higher ranks that is hardly the case. And for the reason I explained most people will simply never have the option to get to those ranks.

LoL wpvp does very little to prepare people for real pvp in a BG where you can’t jump someone lower level while they’re at low health trying to quest. I never noticed any appreciable difference in skill between players from pvp realms vs pve realms.

I think 2-piece blue PvP gear is BiS for every dps class. That is somewhere between R7 and R10 depending on the class, which isn’t that hard to get. I know all mages/warlocks will be aiming for R10. I think warriors only really need R8 for the pants. Not sure about the other classes. In some cases the epic gear is actually a downgrade from the blue PvP gear.

Tryhards and other hardcore players almost invariably play on PvP servers. While new players and casuals generally play on PvE servers. That doesn’t mean everyone on a PvP server is a tryhard, and it doesn’t mean everyone on PvE servers are casuals. But those people tend to gravitate to those servers for obvious reasons.

I have no intentions on playing cross realm bgs. Like the ability to cultivate a community in cross realm, im out.
