This is why I’m so concerned about the player housing situation.

I’ve accepted that there are a few different playstyles we could end up with. I can be flexible with it, because I do know there’s limitations and I know how blizz can be.

I really just want to see what direction they are heading in.

The housing will come with a driving system.

‘van life’ with dragonriding.

I’ll be off in Grizzly Hills with a tent.

Stop making it sound cool, I’m trying to make fun of this.

Oh my God. Las Vegas Open was last night (A big Warhammer tournament) and Games Workshop likes to announce the up and coming products there. Kinda the first big reveal show of the year to generate hype for what’s coming up.

Y’all, I’m going to spend so much money.

I like them to try new and innovative things, but only when they make sense. If the car counted as a mount, that’d be cool (that AQ mount that can only be used in AQ counts as a mount, doesn’t it?). And even Taliesin complained about flying into trees with dragonriding, which I’m certain I can say with 100% confidence that no one liked, so if the car has terrain issues with trees and rocks, that’ll make it less usable.

The car is cute. The concept is interesting and different. Timed stuff is not for me, but maybe someone will like it. No one will like collision issues. And sounds like there’s still bugs to fix. Maybe for the next patch, Blizz should work on 11.2 World of Bugcraft.

As far as player housing, my guess is they only have so many different ways to go. It’s either going to be you get to pick a house and you earn or buy it complete (ESO) or in sections (SWTOR) or upgrade phases (garrisons), or you can build on a lot from the ground up (Sims), or by some crazy luck we get something more like Conan or Wildstar (terraforming, crazy amount of options including adding in portals, pets, landscaping, etc.). Then the furnishing spots are either hooks or not hooks.

If they really wan to go crazy (which I’m not expecting in any way), they’d give us phased zones that we could do everything from terraform and build up, to set up our own questing for others to go through and play our plots (Divinity: Original Sin 2).

It’ll probably be ESO with hooks. I’m ok with that if that’s what they pick. If it’s Garrisons 2.0, connected only to an expac and we have to do crazy work at end game to earn decos (Only ahead of the curve get this, only M+2000 get that), I might be done.

I actually really enjoyed it. Very different. Was a good ride.

I do not miss that lol

While I am sorry that stuff like this is difficult for people with disabilities and I hope there’s some sort of option for that demographic, I am excited for this and thing it is really freaking cool looking.

I agree, they do deserve some credit for trying something new, at least.

But I feel like WoW’s basically at its limit. Everything new they try will be constrained by the ceilings of an aging game’s aging mechanics. We only get stuff like new driving systems because the code just isn’t there to support newer stuff, I feel.

Honestly, it’s an absolute wonder WoW hasn’t collapsed in on itself like a dying star, coding-wise.

City of Heroes was a mess by the time it ended official development and I know the Homecoming team is constantly battling to unspool all the leftover spaghetti - and some of that spaghetti code is load bearing.

I’m fairly open to how they decide to implement player housing, because there’s a number of games that let me scratch my ‘building itch’ if Blizz really messes it up.

  • Valheim - Lots of mods, terraforming to no end, start with a log and a brick. Vikings. Ships. Crafting. Beautiful settings. Single or Multi player. RP clans. Can’t wait for Deep North.
  • Medieval Engineers - build a castle, blow it up. Watch your friend built a castle. Blow it up.
  • Enshrouded, via WeMod = creative mode. I finally built my hobbit village.
  • Conan Exiles is good, I just want more of everything.
  • Arma 3 / DayZ - Arma is and will always be best milsim. DayZ is amazing. Mod into Editor or Mod mode and boom. Create a map. Design the terrain. Place all the assets. Create your own missions.

WoW is the longest I’ve played a game though and I really want the housing to be legit. I am genuinely open minded to what they plan to do, just concerned because I know that I say that and Blizz will sneak up and go YOU THOUGHT YOU KNEW WHAT WE WERE GOING TO DO, BUT YOU DIDNT AND THIS IS WHAT YOU REALLY WANT and I’m going to hate it.

I am definitely not the target demographic for that show.

You and me both!

I’ve finally gotten to the point with dragon flying that I can use it decently. I fly into stuff - Kina has died several times from slamming into cave walls and zigging when I should have zagged and hitting stilagtites. But it’s not a source of anxiety any more.

I am not going through all that crap for a ground mount. -A mount that doesn’t count as a mount, mind you!

I understand why they want the car to be it’s own thing. Otherwise people would be demanding to apply it existing mounts. I don’t want to see any kodos or mammoths drifting through curves in orgrimmar. yes, I appreciate they want to make ground mounts great again. But that boat sailed a long time ago.

I do appreciated that they are at least exploring new things and new ideas. But I think they need to be exploring a new game engine and wow 2 at this point.

I made my self laugh when I pictured a Sunwalker Kodo all tricked out with uncarriage lights and a lift kit. And you’d have to do it in either Orgimmar or Silvermoon. If you tried it in Thunderbluff you’d drifted right off the edge… unless they started equipping all ground mounts with parachutes.

I’m sure with this there’s enough out there to make one look like they were in the matrix. I know black pants and Sunglasses exist.

It really needs to count as a mount, whatever it is.

Wiping out if you hit stuff does not sound fun.

I wonder if they will make it more fun if they wind up extending it to other zones.

I miss when the motorcycle didn’t get fall damage.
