Wyrmest Lounge Thread

It got down to the 20’s here, which is plenty cold enough for me. Old house here too but newer windows (thank gawd).

If I lived anywhere near you - I’m pretty sure I don’t - I would have a new kitty for Christmas… even though we are over the lease limit already. lol. I have weakness for orange kitties. Thank you for doing that for him. <3

So I have an Essay due due tomorrow, it’s just one page, and he’s going to drop our lowest grade on the monthly essays, so it’s not that big of a deal, but I have writers block really bad. I had forgotten about this essay or I would have already done it. But I’m not feeling any of the topics. And I’m more focused on the 5 page paper due on Friday. sigh.

It’s been an interesting semester. On instructor sucks. It’s an online class and she is just phoning it in. Other than 4 weekly assignments from the beginning of the semester - we have no grades. And pretty such those were just graded on being turned in on time. So, based on that I have an A. But we’ve turned in 2 papers, a midterm and weekly assignment since then. IF she grades on turn in, I’m golden. Everything is turned in a day or two early, no AI, and it goes through grammar and spelling check. I just hate not knowing. meh. Sorry, I needed to vent. My husband is tired of hearing about it. lol.

I believe it was along the lines of “beware his tongue! He can eviscerate a warrior with only his words.”

Found out that all of Power rangers Zeo, Turbo and In Space are just on the Power Ranger’s Youtube for free. Guess what I’ll be binging the next few days while I work ?

Speaking of old tv shows that are on YouTube completely for free: Mummies Alive, Sonic X, a whole bunch of Lupin the Third!

The Greatest American Hero is on Tubi. Love, love, loved that show when I was a kid.

Oh, God, I am old, I remember that show. Child Mascot/Protagonist/Main Character was the reincarnation of a Pharoh I think, and got a magical macguffinite and/or a special soul that every Villain of the Week wanted for their own schemes.

The live action He-Man and the Masters of the Universe movie is also up for free on YouTube. Hadn’t watched it in 30 years, put it on as background noise…within 5 minutes I was totally engrossed.

It’s a surprisingly great movie. The sets, costuming, and practical effects are all top notch for the era and no wonder the studio literally went bankrupt making the film.

To the day I die, Frank Langella as Skeletor was the GOAT!

He went HARD!

Tell me about the loneliness of Good, He-Man…

They want Haaaaaaard in that movie. I think I still have it on VHS somewhere in the back. I watched it till the tape started to stretch, I think.

Skeletor’s whole monologue before taking the power of Greyskull was peak cinema. Watching it as an adult, you really can tell the entire cast is just having the absolute time of their lives and it’s a damn shame it spectacularly flamed out because there’s was a lot of passion put into the project.

I also learned after watching it again that the guy who plays Blade was the Combat Instructor on the film and he also played Skeletor during the final fight sequence. Also the reason the lights get trippy during that fight is they were literally recording it last and the sets and lights were being torn down/turned off while they were filming.

I mean seriously, watching most older films in modern resolutions reveals all the set and costume shortcuts. For He-Man, it’s the exact opposite and you wonder what the hell possessed a studio already barely holding on financially to go that hard on a toy tie-in film. The costumes and sets are all gorgeous.

Men who crave power look back over the mistakes of their lives, pile them all together and call it destiny.

Why the absolutely [censored] is a kids tie-in film banging out lines like this?!

If you’re going down in flames and nothing can stop it, why not raid the bar and have the time of your life before impact?

Speaking of older content shows, am I the only person old enough to remember Shadow Raiders?

Nope. Missed that one, though I can see the Reboot artstyle right off.

Never saw that show either but Reboot is the King!!! They just recently showed a documentary of it- all of it on Youtube

Good Lawd, that is one hell of an epic line!

Let’s stop and talk about your transmog.

Last night, we had THUNDERSNOW and it was AWESOME. I was as giddy as Jim Cantore in a blizzard: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdRWGMyeSYY

We lost power about 15 minutes later but it was worth it.

That movie will always have a special place in my heart. Silly as it was (Frank Langella ate, tho) it still nourishes my inner child.

The recent Masters of the Universe netflix series went into some surprisingly dark, thoughtful storytelling you wouldn’t expect from, yes, a toy tie-in. One of the things that comes up is that Prince Adam/He-Man still has the maturity level of a literal teenager when transformed and this is not a great thing for him.
