WW Needs god.... again

I just don’t know anymore if it’s even worth keep playing ww, i’ve been maining WW since SL, played it all DF and once again it’s my main in TWW

I started playing monk because it was a great spec to do M+ back in SL, but since then i’ve only seen it go downhill which is sad for a really fun spec where you don’t mash 1 key ('m looking at you pallys)

After the rework in the beta before tww launches i was getting hopethat ww was gonna get some love by blizz, like pallys or spriest got back in DF, I remember that they said “Since pallys and Priests only have 1 dps spec they want it to feel strong” to which i thought, “GREAT, that means that at some point monk should also get some of that love, because we also only have 1 dps spec”, and then we got a rework, but nothing changed…

Spriests after their rework were so strong they had to nerf it multiple times, and disc was meta some time during DF

Pallys also got a great rework, also being meta at some point, even prot and holy were meta at some point

But where are monks ?, people are complaining here in the forums about BrM, i don’t play the spec but i read the forums and seems like brew is not like in a good state right now
MW ? also read a lot of posts of people complaining that MW is kinda weak, now that they got buffed seems like they are getting invited to keys again
And there’s WW, at the begging of the xpac i remember people were saying that ww is in a great spot right now, which was kinda true but right now as the latest dps ranking on wowhead seems like WW is in the lasts spots in raid, and Mythicstats also says that WW is in D Tier

What i find interesting is that Monk is not even a forgotten spec there are a lot of ww logging Mythic raid week by week, has blizzard forgotten about ww ? Are we ever gonna see some buffs ?

i just wanna end this post with a comment tettles made in one of his videos, “WW got his rework way too early” becauses after the rework they paid 0 attention to the spec and now probably gonna get an aura buff like always…

The multiple rounds of adjustments and reworks to Retribution (and other specs, though Retribution was kind of the rework that kicked off all the other successful reworks) make me hopeful that Windwalker will in fact be visited again, multiple times.

I think Windwalker’s biggest weaknesses in terms of gameplay “feel” are:

  • The baseline spec was slowed down way too much with the recent rework. It shouldn’t require an end-of-expansion stat range to feel smooth (many energy-based specs suffer from this).
  • Thematically, the spec should have more options to lean further away from the August Celestials and summoning stuff. A “monk summoner”–while unique–isn’t a vibe that a majority of players really care to role-play as.
  • Fists of Fury is not a fun ability in its current form. It needs a mechanical reimagining. By comparison, Wake of Ashes (Ret Paladin) is VERY fun to press. Fury of the Eagle (Survival Hunter) is very similar but doesn’t last as long and is somehow still more fun to press. Rushing Wind Kick (Mistweaver Monk) is very fun to press. Frostscythe (Frost Death Knight) is VERY fun to press. The examples go on and on.
  • There should be more options to lean away from picking up major cooldown abilities (1+ minute cooldown). Storm, Earth, and Fire has had better iterations in the game’s past.

If those things were addressed/fixed, Windwalker would feel better.

At 622, I’m 2 chesting 10s as a BRM, but I can say without a doubt it’s not easy. My problem is that pugging 10s is incredibly hard because no one wants a BRM. Unless it’s a physical heavy comp, I don’t bring much utility. This week isn’t bad because I can touch of death the affix add which makes things go smoother.

But realistically, at 10+ you’re probably going to wait for a prot war/pal or bear because they are much easier to play. Prot and bear bring a bres too.

I also play WW, and again I think the rotation is fun but also punishing. I don’t see much changing because we have a vocal minority that like our complexity and niche. We all can’t be 1 button mashers.

We need some Love an Better Raid buff (nobody use Phys almost except maybe 4 class) better keystone talent its mostly quality of life or fun capstone right now compared to most class getting some strong ability/utility. The rework Did some good but overall its more a Tweak than a real rework like spriest/ret got their talent revamp were so much better

So much of this.

I actually like the vibe of Conduit of the Celestials as WW, but it still feels incredibly lacking. And the draw ability of that tree is on such a long CD imo that it’s kind of annoying.

And shadopan is so uninspired. Animation is meh at best and the passive nature is a snoozefest.

Would have much rathered some chi/spirit focused tree.

I love the WW monk gameplay but have really slowed on its playtime because it just feels… half baked right now.

Big time agree. I main warlock and DK - I love summons/pet specs on classes that suit it.

I’d like more kung fu / spirit energy stuff however on a WW monk, rather than always picking Xuen or SEF, for example.

Meanwhile, my Shaman that I ‘would’ play remains in torpor because no one at Blizzard will fix the bug they caused. Do yourselves a favor everyone and do not buy name changes right now. This happened to me and likely could to you. Blizzard feels like their passively saying “Hey buddy… you should of paid us a little more for a race change…”

Last time this happened they had to give me a new Shaman, and perma delete the original, which cost me many rewards I’d gained in the Mists of Pandaria expansion. Lets just say I’m still not pleased about that one… But hey, at least with account wide achieves I can finally warp to the instances in MoP again. The good stuff however is locked from the Shaman sadly.
