Yeah, seems like there’s a lot of new people here for SoD, which brings up all the old conversations. It’s kind of nice to see all the new faces, but also it definitely feels like we’ve had these conversations before.
Meh, why should the game cater to complaining…
?
I mean, maybe? I don’t personally think so. I think…
To be sure though, I am not asking for changes. I think the system is absolutely fine the way it is… players are free to queue solo or with a friend or full team. The people who are queuing solo and them complaining about how others play are asking to change the game to accommodate themselves.
I don’t care if its a premade, but whoever caps first the losing team needs to let the winners cap the next two ASAP to get the game over with. Comebacks rarely ever gonna happen. Statistically you’ll just end up dragging the game out and getting 0 rep. Likely very little honor too since a dominant team that is strong enough to cap the flag isn’t gonna let you farm them.
Also premades farming pugs at gy are generally the lowest tier groups.
Premades that farm other premades at gy, now it gets a tiny bit more fun.
But two really good groups won’t do that, the game naturally tilts towards stalemate if both groups are near equal skill and trying hard, so you have to work extra hard to try and get caps before that happens.
because most people don’t bring that attitude to the discussion. I see most people say “just join a premade” which doesn’t fix the problem it just shifts it onto someone else and even when you join a premade is boring because you are just GY farming other pugs. and I’ve even seen other posters say “just beat the premades 4head”.
They should add a premade vs premade queue and give it huge honor gains so its the most efficient to attract the efficient gamers*
Most premades are basically pugs - in a premade queue they would get obliterated. So very few teams would actually queue, and it would disincentivize making premades in general.
Which is fine if you wanna lower the overall quality of gameplay.
The best solution imo is for pugs to step up and improve their own personal gameplay, in era there are lots of decent game in which over half the pugs on each team are actually pretty good. People new to vanilla WSG just need some time to learn and a positive attitude.
Yeah, because most of them are players who solo q’d and got smashed by a premade, even a tradechat premade and said f this and joined one which only exacerbates the problem.
So you think holding everyone else hostage because nobody really wants to premade they just have to because if you don’t you get slaughtered is the right way to go?
I mean kind of? It’s like TBC and WOTLK arena latter participation. When only good players are queuing and new fresh blood doesn’t even stand a chance nobody is going try and stick around to get good you just leave because it sucks.
it’s just silly to think there is 0 problem with the only option to PVP being get really good so you stand a chance against 10 really good people queing together in voice coordinating while you have 9 totally random skill level players on your team. There is a reason literally every other PVP game has rating and either solo q or matches people on the size of their party when they queue up.
and worst of all premading is just boring, you spend maybe 10% of your games actually fighting other premades. Just let it die.
I mostly solo queue because it like to take breaks whenever I want, etc. but I can say that the most fun I’ve had in vanilla was running long days with good premades while ranking. Sure it was mostly pug stomping but when we played other good teams, things were serious and it was double fun - and you made good friends while doing it.
I agree that adding MMR (especially a simple hidden MMR system - like start at 500 points, gain or lose 25pts per match) would help align players into equal skill brackets, and I would support something along those lines.
However, I don’t know if it would overall increase participation or overall quality of games for the vast majority of players. Lots of low skilled players in a game probably won’t be too fun, and lots of high skill players will be fun - but bad for ranking (from a vanilla perspective in which HPH is the goal).
So it is kinda hard to make a truly better system, but perhaps possible.
However, I strongly stand by the fact that the current state is not so bad. If one is willing to put in an effort most games in SoD are winable and can be decent fun even as a solo player.
Perhaps an MMR system like the one above, but that tries to match the overall team scores - so like a premade could face 7 great players and 3 noobs that have sum mmr that is similar to theirs, or something along those lines could end up improving things overall. But it is also easy to make things much worse.
You know, you’re right. I was on the side of people should earn revered->exalted in a bg, but now that I think about it, the people rushing to do that right now are exactly the kind of people that I don’t want to be in a bg with.
I’m torn. One the one hand, I don’t solo Q anymore as that isn’t fun for me when solo vs premade, so I play less PvP on off hours. On the other hand, I enjoy blasting in a premade and winning premade vs premade is incredibly satisfying.
WoW is intended to be a social game, my guy says let it ride. Trying to reward anti-social behavior is the road to Retail.
Let me educate you on the psychology of a player and progression.
If the value for killing stuff are too low it removes the sense of progression. So players don’t want to do it because they are wasting their time. I don’t want to waste my time anymore than anyone else.
When they fix the value of as you say “killing stuff” in Ashenvale so it feels like you are contributing then more people will do it. Until then we are just going to do something else instead of wasting our time.
People wonder why so many players want to rush to maxlevel ASAP. Those who hit 25 early on got to take advantage of honor farming before they nerfed the event. Now the rest of us are left to try and catch up. Its always like this. The first people to hit max get to take advantage of something that ends up getting nerfed fairly early on.
They really didn’t think through the endgame of P1 very well.
Far as WSG goes I did it once. We won but it still sucks with no timer. I did it at 19. No desire to even bother now.
