Wrongful bans

Not really, The SFAs showed he likes to cuss in chat, this isn’t his first offense either for it to be permanent. It’s about time Blizzard stepped in and clean up the game.

What is wild is to let it get that far. Takes a nunber of violations to get to that point.

And to boot, they’ll create more accounts and continue doing the same thing. Any bans need to be by email or IP address to avoid repeat offenders.

Players are allowed to create a new account even after their first account had been banned. Blizzard does not ban people, only accounts.

True! With very rare exceptions. There are humans that are banned from Blizzard games/properties. Legal gets involved at that stage.

It is not at all common though. Any business can “ban” a customer from their premises if things are bad enough.

Doesn’t work. You can change email addresses and IP bans don’t work as a simple phone call to your ISP to change the IP.

With most home ISP services, your public IP address can change spontaneous every few hours. Is Blizzard going to blacklist whole neighborhoods?

Not to mention that multiple Battle.net accounts can be behind the same one public-facing address. So you’d effectively ban everyone who connects from a single LAN.

The report system does not count additional reports from alts on the same account. It only accepts one per account I think. So if I report an advertisement spammer on Mira, then log out and report it on one of my alts, it only counts as one report against that spammer.

People can’t actually spam report that way.

Best not to engage in name calling. The forum serves as an Information Desk of sorts, not really the place to discuss the personality of a person.

I don’t know how many times this needs to be said, but people just aren’t getting it.

Mass Reports don’t result in an instant suspension or account ban! You can be reported by 1 or 100 people. If you did nothing wrong nothing will happen. When those reports (1 or 100) are reviewed by a GM, if they find evidence of breach of ToS, then they will apply an account action. When applying the account action, the GM will consider any previous account actions and they apply the new penalty based on a penalty volcano which can be harsher based on the number of infractions starting at silences and can escalate up to account closure.

People like to believe false information rather then facts just like the so called automation/bots/ai answering tickets just because the internet says so doesnt make it so.
