Probably a hot take here but, I think at least in bfa / sl they were trying to build new storylines to work with later on down the line but given the avalanche of complaints about how awful those expansions were, they decided not to do anything substantial with them.
Bfa may have not been a perfect expansion but the concept around things like warfronts and island expeditions was solid if half baked. Same with Sl with covenants and torghast. they had flaws but were something that coulda been iterated upon.
Df decided to remake the rep system in a way that while yes i enjoyed, they completely removed any reason to do so beyond grinding for cosmetics.
I haven’t played tww yet but i imagine its not much different so far. World content is basically farm for hats mode as opposed to the paradigm that wow had up until sl where world gear was at least SOMEWHAT useful.
Or like Faeryn this expansion in the last zone when we talk about saving Flynn …
" i wont ever leavy anyone behind no matter how moronic the person is!!!"
Closely followed by “Champion go! And save him”
What a rolemodel strong independent onehanded oneyed never wrong token black kween leader she is!
I guess the real question is how would you write it if it’s so “terrible”. How would you convey those thoughts in a much more suitable manner to your liking?
Show us your magnificent writing skills, let us see what you can come up with. Then maybe Blizzard will know next time.
Hahahahaa. Haven’t gotten to her yet. Still putzing around in Donegal or Dorn. Don’t remember the name. Besides the irritating way the new dwarves speak, I rather like it.
I’m gonna be honest, I haven’t exactly had a lot of faith in TWW. I’m super stoked that Metzen is back on board, but as evidenced by the last interview video that came out, it certainly sounded like a case of “TWW was already pretty far along”.
Which, if I’m being honest, is a worry I have. It seems like there’s a perpetual sense of “but it’s going to get better”, but the proof is in the pudding. I think Metzen has a clear, cohesive vision of what “Warcraft” is and needs to be, and I just hope he has full creative control to get us there.
You mean the game that is cartoony since the start is corny cheesy?
GASP.
… you say this yet somehow haven’t realized that this 20 year old cartoonish game has been this way since day 1.
if it got old that fast, why have you been here for so long?
I think they did a poor job writing quest dialogue for the Earthen. Whenever they speak, like when you click on them, their wording are robotic and dry yet whatever is written down in the quest window is proper English. It feels so disconnected from their race and culture.
But that can be said for Horde in general as well. How for example Tauren, Goblin and Orc talk isn’t reflected how they talk in quest dialogue, which is just generic Human.
Some of it has been pretty good, but it has definitely been a mix. Sylvanas slapping around Bolvar was like eh, whatever. Khadgar unloads on Xal and the same thing happens which is getting a little… meh. I just got to a point where all Alleria does is punch Xal, and she flies back 12 feet and looks angry. Yes, Alleria punches harder than Khadgar unloading with everything he has.
On the flip side, we’ve got Anduin doing his level best to be as big of a disappointment as is possible, while Faerin attempts to teach him how to man up. I don’t really mind the girl boss thing generally, but it’s starting to feel like we need a Varian in there somewhere.
But… the corniness and cheesiness is what I’m here for.
I’m not looking for Tolkien levels of sophistication here. I’m just here for a fun time in a setting I like and enjoy, and that’s what I’ve been getting.
No no, you see, it was epicer when Arthas went “I’ll get you NEXT time, hero!” in his best Dr. Claw voice several times while leveling. It’s so cringe that modern villains use cutscenes when they taunt us when they could instead spawn into the room, hit us with a 10 second stun, say a line, and then despawn.
It’s terrible. Feels like sitting through a 10 hour Scooby Doo cartoon. The worst part is that they force you to do the campaign otherwise you won’t get world quests and other useful stuff.
