WoWhead ongoing censorship

You do realize that S230 is so that sites can’t be sued because of comments you make. If S230 would go away moderation would increase, or sites would simply disappear… right?

The Bible and 1984, the most commonly quoted/referenced books by people who never read them

Oh to be so delusional like you again

If 230 gets axed, they’ll become liable for any of the toxicity that pops up. Instead of removing comments, they’ll just remove the user.

That’s actually one of the things I’ve always found humorous about the people trying to get it removed, since many of them are in the “will get banned immediately for the crap they say” category.

Give an inch, take a mile. You will will reap what you sew. Disagree with someone and go to jail soon.

230 needs re-worked, or changed for what type of social media you are.

Been hoping for Animal Farm to pop up, and even watership down as well. But I might be wishing to hard for those. Oh well.

Still fun to witness.

Ok so why are you posting here ? WoWhead is not owned by Blizzard, is their own company with their own rules and can delete anything that they want off of their forums etc.

Sorry but Free Speech does not apply when dealing with private companies.

There are so many bigots these days. My butch wife and I will have to watch out for such rude people.

Because I know people here go on WoWhead a lot. I obviously can’t discuss this on their website.

That’s nice dear

And that would be a great way to incentivize the owners of those sites to either ban your state from using them. Or just shut the platform down.

Why would I allow my company to be liable for removing something inflammatory that any idiot can post. That’s just bad business.

There is really nothing to discuss.
You posted something they did not want on their site (reason is immaterial) so they removed it. Move on.
If you want to discuss WoWHead’s moderation you need to take that up with WoWHead.

There’s evidently plenty to discuss by the looks of the replies. If you don’t like this discussion you’re free to leave. Yes I understand the irony in this post.

Do you see the catch 22 in what you wrote there?

You are advocating for the thing you say you are against. Infringing on property rights will only hurt the system worse.

Ok let me reword, what is the outcome you are looking for from this discussion ? the thread moved to off topic or deleted ? Those are the only outcomes you will see here.

WoWhead , these forums, any privately owned forums / sites can delete whatever they like and you have no recourse.

I mean… I wouldn’t personally remove it but that was off topic.

They depend on Blizzard for 100% of their business and perks. Of course they are going to censor material that they think Blizzard doesn’t like or might be crossing the line.

yeah…Ive had one or two deleted over there. Didnt really get a rational reason. I just dont post there much over it.
Some posts that get down voted have no reason why they should have been. Seems to be nearly as bad as this forum for that crap

I think the problem with those guidelines is how easy it is to misconstrue them. Many times I’ve seen posts that were deleted and the poster not once insulted anyone, thier post was on topic for the current thread and they even censored their own cuss words with the asterix symbol. So really at this point its more a matter of people just don’t agree with another users posts half the time and instead of ignoring it and moving on they go straight for the ban hammer cause they hate different opinions.

My wife works in social media, they still have her hide posts that even censor themselves
