Non-Mac user here trying to download Wow Classic Era’s and it would initialize but not start downloading anything. Deleted and redownloaded bnet app and restarted but still isn’t updating
Thanks for the info. I’ll add that on our end.
If you’re on Windows try what I left on this post.
11.6? How do I change that
Also I am not using mac. So not sure whats wrong.
That seems real odd because when the system calls the admin privileges and you say yes they should have full control to everything on the system so this should not do anything to help. You are also defeating the built in security of windows that prevents malicious activity.
happening to me on mac os 10.15.7
Mac OS 10.14.6
I don’t even know what that means. I am not a computer genius. Or any other type. lol
Running 11.6 Big Sur.
Permission change (chmod 777 to data folder) also did not work for me.
12.0.1 Monterey
M1 Pro 16
11.6 Big Sur
Also, chmod did not work for me, but for some reason I noticed that my username was also not set as the POSIX owner of the WoW main folder. I’ve fixed that, but it still claims to be not writable (Agent needs admin privileges) by the battlenet app. /shrugs
MacOS 11.6
12.0.1 Mac OS Monterey
Quick note to all that tried the chmod workaround.
This only worked for me to launch the game manually. It did not fix the issue(s) with launching/updating the game from within the Battle.net application.
It is old school launching the game manually but it will get you into the game.
Good luck all!
Possibly worth noting is the message at BN launch: Agent “Agent wants to make changes. Enter your name and password to allow this” Then after entering name/pw when update is attempted, comes the Administrator message error.
Also, chmod command didn’t work OS 12.0.1
When I try to launch manually it will not accept my credentials after adding the authenticator code
I am using Win 10 and looked at the post you linked. My admin and user accounts are already set to Full Control. I tried to run the Battle.net app in Administrator mode and it did not change anything for me. I did submit a ticket to Blizz earlier today under Issue ID: #82038837 but it was closed due to the posts in this thread as you guys were apparently working on this issue.
The sudo command didn’t work for me. I’m running Mac OS 10.15.7.
When I first run the Bnet launcher there’s a pop-up to enter the admin password, which I do. The launcher starts “Initializing”, then the button reverts to “Update” and I get the error that everyone else is reporting to login as admin (which I am).
sudo ran correctly but did not solve the problem.
10.14.6 Mojave
Seems like a broken download file coming from the servers, possibly reinstalls files with permissions issues right back into the directories after the chmod had already run.
OFC a reboot had no effect, it’s definitely a permission thing that’s come up in the last 24 hours, no changes to my system.
Please fix - unable to run the game.
Same for me. Mac Pro 2010. 10.13.6
This probably isn’t the solution people want to hear but:
I deleted the entire game (uninstall from battle.net launcher which it let me do without admin lol).
I then deleted the library folders for battle.net and blizzard (MacintoshHD/Users/myusername/Library/Application Support, note this may be hidden and have to be displayed).
I then deleted Battle.net by dragging to trash.
I then restarted.
I then redownloaded Battle.net, redownloaded and installed WoW, reinstalled all of the same addons with CurseForge.
I restarted battle.net, it did an update, and is now working with Version 9.1.5.40966
This has allowed me to log in and play. I did have to reconfigure my settings as they were back to default but my key binds remained.
