WoW won't update

For those of you getting the “log in as administrator” you may want to read this thread [Main Thread] - Permissions errors updating or repairing games in Battle.net - #71 by Severa-fizzcrank before you uninstall and reinstall. I solved some issues where you can log in manually and NOT through B-net. So you can play until Bliz gets their act together

100% still a thing, keeps asking for Agent permissions, then spins its wheels ‘initializing’ and eventually errors out Error code: BLZBNTAGT00000BB8. Except i don’t have any connection issues, firewalls, proxies or anything interferring. There’s a Blizzard error, that needs resolution, Stat.

I did the full reinstall and this and it worked once, but now today it’s back to doing that same thing again with Agent and the Admin…
This is nuts,

So I only really play classic TBC at the moment. How about a free, in-game expert riding skill for one of my toons as an olive branch for all the missed game time. Or the associated cost of 5,000 gold

I have been having this issue for a few days now. It seems that Blizzard is incapable of fixing this problem which affects so many users. I have tried all the ideas on this forum and still not able to log into the game. The lack of updates on this issue shows how much Blizzard appreciates the customers, and how hard they are working to fix this issue.

The most cringe of all part is is the “fake updates” issue that’s like 2 years+ now is caused by them wanting ONLY 777 permissions on every file inside wow folder, period, if any aren’t it makes it think there is a game update so it can run the agents permission “repair” function. It’s a  show through and through. I <3 many of wow devs and CS people, but The tools/launcher team have never proven to be capable of anything but screwing up and not putting forth any real effort to fix things in timely manor at all (if at all, ie YEARS of permissions bugs)

Hey there,

No new updates from our Dev/QA team. I just wanted to check in with y’all. If you are impacted by this issue and have not posted on this forum regarding the bug please do so. Our support staff will add you to our tracking of the bug.

If you have posted already, it should be fine to leave it at that until we are in the “retest” phase. I’ll post on this thread once we have more updates!!

Thanks for reaching out to us. Cheers!

Thank you, hope the Dev team can fix the issue soon. and when it happens, do we have to re-download the Battle.net app?

I am also having this issue since last night. WoW tries to update, then says whoops, something broke; try again, or whatever the message is. Really disappointed this hasn’t been solved yet for all of us.

Still unable to download/update. Have tried removing the game and battle.net and redownloading everything, but still experiencing this issue.

Thank for the “update” but do you guys really know what happened to cause this? How many more days of no-game time is there going to be? Is there going to be any compensation for lost game time? If not there should be, how many more players can you really afford to lose?!

I tried every suggestion in this thread and nothing worked. But I found this suggestion in another thread and it finally worked. The launcher is back to normal with the “Play” button.

  • Find your agent apps. Users/Shared/Battle.net/Agent. There will probably be a few folders named something like Agent7531 and Agent7581
  • Open the Agen7531 folder and locate the Agent app in that folder, but don’t do anything with it yet. You just need to have it open now for below when it says “IMMEDIATELY” you need to double click (start) this app quickly.
  • Start Activity Monitor
  • Start Battle.net
  • After Battle.net starts, you’ll get the error, close the error message
  • In Activity Monitor, find the Agent process and force quit it (select Agent and click the “x” in the upper left)
  • IMMEDIATELY double-click the Agent app in the 7531 folder
  • In Battle.net, start an update or hit Play

12.0.1 Monterey
After 2 hours trying to fix this we decided to go back 3 days ago on my Time Machine settings but then again when I tried to switch on another account I got stuck on “update”.

Please fix Blizz we have bad boys to kill places to go mogs to farm

Just posting to report that I’m also impacted by this issue as requested by customer service so that I can be added to their tracking… Looking forward to playing again.

Same problem two days ago when I thought it was an issue due to a corrupted add-on (which was working for two days). Then it went wonky on Thursday. Heard today from a Tech Specialist from my ticket I put in on Friday. Blizz is aware of the issue and are "working " on it. Claims it is likely due to a battle.net issue. Ideally, it should not require an re-install when it is fixed. Of course, there was no estimate on when and there is not post on the battlement log in page about the issue. So, you can go through the save WTF and Interface trick and maybe play today or wait until? That is working for me but I am doing the painstaking one-at-a-time add-on load just to be sure.

Mojave 10.14.6

Followed a bunch of advice on blizzard help page, deleted a bunch of files and now I can’t even load the game from its folder trying to workaround the app. I get “the CAS system was unable to initialize: Client handler: initialization error: failed to create storage component” error message and I don’t know if it’s just this mediocre game or if it’s because of something that I’ve tried to do to fix this mediocre game. Maybe if when you were aware of issues (which you bloody well were by the time I tried all my fixes on my end) you could PUT THEM AS A MESSAGE IN THE BLIZZARD APP SO WHEN PEOPLE TRY TO PLAY THE GAME THEY ARE PAYING FOR THEY DONT DO WHAT I DID… anyways the lack of caring on Blizzards end has made it abundantly clear that I won’t be resubbing without some form of reimbursement.

Posting to report the issue as well .
Running 12.01 OS
Man I don’t get a lot of free time but I would like to be able to play when I can

I’m not getting the “Please try again after logging on as an administrator”. Instead, I’m getting an error that reads “Whoops! Looks like something broke. Give it another shot”.

So I restart the Bnet client (shut it down and re-open it), click “Update” and it gives me the same message. I’m not sure if it’s the same administrator issue experienced by others in that other thread but I’m leaving this up here just in case it’s a different issue.
