FFXIV is on its 3rd expansion. WoW’s 3rd expansion was Cataclysm.
Up until Shadowlands Blizzard expects you to level through all the expansions too if I’m remember right.
But each expansion was a bit here, a bit there. So you did 20 lvls in cataclysm. Then you could level no further. So you either continued for the story but no XP or you changed expansions and lost the story.
Exactly! People get different things out of different games. Personally I like the way FF does endgame, mainly because it works for me. I can play a WoW patch cycle and go back to FF after it dies down and I’m not perpetually behind because of a timegate or resource gate. That being said, WoW does have the superior endgame, even if it’s much more of an investment in time to get there and stay caught up.

Same here. I started with the PS4 remake though which has been great world building so far.
I’m looking forward to learning about a new universe when I’ve got some free time and it’s pretty refreshing to get into some with a big lore and backstories to get involved with.
The quality of other AAA games just feels like it’s diminishing too much for me to enjoy and the RPG/J-RPG scene doesn’t release new games too often. It’s made me ask myself recently if modern games are even for me anymore.
They went through slapping actions on accounts for having “18+” in their PF listings, but go off

I’ve been playing WoW since wrath and I’ve been playing FFXIV on/off since the original FFXIV 1.0. They’re both great games in their own ways IMO.
IMO,
FFXIV has better storytelling, classes are more unique, combat is flashy, crafting is better, more unique mounts and rewards, and their casual content is better. Plus their devs actually care about the game.
WoW has more fluid combat, better raiding and PvP. WoW has way more races to choose from and I just feel like WoW has more “character” because of their art style and vast lore(even if it sucks at times).
FF is going into their 4th expansion soon and WoW is in it’s 8th already. Plus all of the OG WoW devs who actually cared about the game are gone. I still think they’re both good games. WoW is struggling more these past few expansions though and I really do hope they get a better design philosophy going forward.

You were saying FFXIV isn’t PC, but they go through a terrible amount of effort to make sure their community is squeaky clean.

Adding fat “plus size” characters, changing character skin colors in the name of diversity and adding rainbows everywhere is. And covering all the character skin up and making all the character uglier.

This is the main reason I can’t get into the game. The few months I played were enjoyable, but I just couldn’t get past the cat girls.
It controls the exact same way as WoW.
So you haven’t played.
I just started playing it recently, what class is as cool as Dragoon but isn’t as mainstream?
FF starts off pretty slow. It gets a lot better. Both WoW and FF are good games. Cheers.

The game is mainly for pve players, but to be honest I give it a 6.5/10 for me. However that’s probably because I am still stuck in the ARR storyline as a warrior tank and that class / combat system puts me to sleep.
The several year long threads (that I was apart of, actually), that got extremely hostile very quickly in all directions.
Glad to see they’re going to put in another half-baked character model into the game while the ones they put in still need to purchase a $10 service to change their hair 
because of minority outrage.

When they added f Viera and m Hrothgar it was a total botch job. They can’t wear hats or use hairstyles that aren’t unique to them (Viera has 5 in total if you really squint). Can’t wear hats, and only some hover head pieces work on them (as a treat!).
Hrothgar hair is tied to their face, so if they want to change their hairstyle they have to drop $10 on fantasia. We haven’t seen anything new for these races for the entire duration of ShB, and I’m pretty sure we won’t see any in EW.
For reference, there were a total of 10 new hairstyles dropped in ShB.
