WoW Tokens are ruining the game

Yup, games where you cannot buy your way to the top, are inherently better games.

If WoW tokens were killing the game then the game would’ve died ages ago.

tokens only effect you if you let them. IE buying one or selling.

Multiboxers offset inflated prices on the auction house so token gold and boxers cancel each other out.

It doesn’t change your ability to play the game, grind and gear up. The only downside is ads and there are chat filter add-ons for that.

I’v yet to understand why people complain about having to spend all this supposed amount of money on repairs, pots, etc. Yet i’v played for years and have never ran into this problem. Then again…I treat this as a game. Also, it boggles the mind that people are literally spending hard earned money for fake monies.

The point of anything you do in any game is your own personal enjoyment and satisfaction.

It doesn’t mean a single thing to me that other people have achievements that they paid for with gold which they paid for with cash.

Stop basing your own game experience on what other people are doing and enjoy playing how you want. There’s much bigger things in the game to complain about than having to scroll past some WTS listings in group finder.

Nah they’re not doing anything. Calm down mr dramatic

made over 6 M this expansion by just playing the game , if you arnt making gold your not playing the game at all

Time is the only currency in the game. Everything else is a just measure of time. The more time it takes to produce something the more it costs in whatever currency. The actual value of gold matters little. If you notice, things like current epic BOEs have always cost about 2-3 weeks of typical gold time. The only things that have gotten cheaper in time cost are old legacy vendor items like early mounts.

Get rid of tokens and people buy it from gold farmers like it was from the beginning

Then cash for gold would again just move to grey websites like before the token. Nothing would actually change. The only thing the token did was legitimize the buying/selling of gold.

You would like it more if you checked some guides and learned how to make gold in game, and then bought gametime for that gold you earn.

Flipping | AH management will change your mind.

WoW Token serves to fight against RMT. Only so that Blizzard get the money instead and also it is safer for the player, it’s not going anywhere.

15 years ago the game was marketed to 20yo with no jobs.

Today it’s marketed to 30yo with jobs.

You notice an increase of goblin multiboxers because it is the gold meta now. They need to keep up with the competition. (im a mboxer with 350k gold to my name)…

Look how boost infested classic is. And someone pointed it in this thread, we will have a toxic end-game filled with boost and no more legitimate players who just want to do the content themselves. Boosting will be considered normal, like powerleveling in Diablo where you only rush to 98% power in 1 day then climb the last %% race on your own.

i guess you came in part-way through the thread.

i was being interrogated about something i’d said, because i was speculating.
(even though what i was claiming can be seen by anyone who logs into the game)

so unless their guild mates are showing them information about how they pay for their account, the claims that their guild mates use gold to pay for the game… are speculation.

i was merely playing their silly game. :upside_down_face:

The WoW token isn’t ruining the game. If we didn’t have the token we’d just have more chinese gold farmers. Comparing what we got on retail to what exists on classic servers is like night and day.

What is ruining the game is the fact that these obvious paid for carries are allowed. They need to be punished swiftly. The very fact they exist has ruined the game because achieving anything has no more value anymore. What, you’re glad? Oh you must have paid for a carry. Oh you got Grand Marshal? Paid for a carry. Ah look you cleared the newest raid on Mythic? Looks like yet another carry…

As for inflation the best way they can solve that is for us to just replace gold as the go to currency. We have dozens of other currencies in the game so it’s clearly not hard to add a new one to the game. We’re sorta way beyond the mortal era of having to trade gold for various knick knacks and services. It’s time for a more… universal and cosmic resource for us to farm.

No, platinum will not fix this. We need something new that everyone starts off at 0 with. Without removing the gold we currently have that still exists to this day. Gold can still be an option to buy stuff on old vendors but the AH needs to switch to the new currency and gold needs to be made bind on account. No more in-game ways to generate gold should exist. Add some new temporary gold sinks to encourage people to spend whatever they have left and be done with it. Any WoW tokens bought with gold should be flagged as irredeemable for the new currency obviously.

This also confuses me.

I bought a token recently because I’ve started a couple alliance characters. I want decent bags and to afford to ride.

How is that “p2w”. Am I “paying to win” when I level a new character and buy some basic gear upgrades? Who am I beating? I’m doing world quests. I’m beating the game? Ok, I guess. Why does anyone care that I just couldn’t get a weapon above 400 to ever drop so I bought one to tide me until I do?

I guess I get it in pvp, but most people don’t pvp.

Ah yes. the game is dying because of the wow token. Give me a break man. People rely on it to pay I know you mentioned you knew that but you see no one cares how you personally feel about the wow token and how it “Ruins” the game for you.

Why not? If you multibox herbalism, you get (let’s say) 5-10 times more herbs. Therefore, you can make more potions. Wouldn’t that be multiboxing alchemy?

The wow token is part of the reason Activision Blizzz stock price is soaring, they knew back in early expansions how mmuch real life currency was made by selling gold and they basically got into the game, the company is worth literally over $60 billion dollars right now. They will not change that model for anyone’s tears on the forum. Its share driven now, not some mom and pop game that Mike M and his buddies created

Honestly they could slap a 7 day cool down (or 30 day or something) on Token for $ purchase - still allowing for the occasional gold boost for newer accounts who haven’t been farming for years, while creating a greater obstacle to carries, etc…

The token serves a purpose, its just seems too easy for some folks to be able to buy their weekly chest.

They could fix crap drop rates to be nicer. Then they get the rabble rabble of stuff is given away now.

Why I have bought a toke or 2 in the past. I saw ginn-su on a server’ AH for a relatively cheap price. A Server I was light on gold for. Token fixed that and gave that server some fun money.

To me this was less than an hour of work irl. In game life…this was me giving up around try 100 for the dungeon that dropped it. Factoring in travel time as chars did other things when not spamming this and this dungeon is a bit out the way I had many hours here. Many.

Now if it and others drops rates got better…I’d be motivated to play more. Why of late I am down to 2-3 days after tuesday raid reset for a few mog/mount runs. And then I turn my chair to the right, fire up the tv and the xbox lol. 3 days of RNG fail followed by I know in the other game item X is there. Its behind a mean fight or 2, or 3 lol…but its there.

INb4 if you got it easier you’d leave. Not really. When ginn-su was bought it was scratched off the list of wants. Some other item looks its spot and thus that grind started.
