Rated PvP and high level M+ considering those are the only thing that are even remotely considered “ESports” in WoW.
But nothing in the game is actually “balanced” if you read the forums at all. So really…
Nothing.

Remember when MLG dropped WoW?
Its weird usually by now mmo-c has more questions that ghostcrawler answers. But haven’t seen them in a while. Would be interesting to see other devs that are no longer with the company speak about what is going on.
Something about Non-disclosure agreements and not burning bridges. I don’t think Ghostcrawler sees himself working at Blizzard again, but he chooses his words carefully too when he does mention them.
I could care less about the microtransactions. They are completely voluntary. I do not want WoW free. Free games are generally inferior as much as no one wants to admit it. No free to play game is as content rich as WoW, not even close.
Usually NDA’s have an expiration date.
The speculation around the removal of WoW from the MLG PC circuit ended up being false. The truth is the game will NOT be used at the National Finals in Dallas next month because of issues regarding the expansion. As of now WoW remains to be be, alongside SC2, a part of MLG’s PC circuit.
And, as of 11/2018, WoW is still listed on the MLG Gaming site.
Where the hell is that dislike button at ?
There’s an anti-necro thread at the top of the forums. You couldn’t resist, could you?
Edit to add:
Bypassing the profanity filter is frowned upon FYI.
Generally speaking I believe micro-transactions are ones required to play. Buying cosmetic items as mounts and/or pets don’t qualify.
No, microtransactions are anything that are small fees for… anything you want. It isn’t restricted to cosmetics. WoW also really only has macrotransactions, as the pets and mounts aren’t cheap in the slightest.
Guessing this guy necroed this because the mods said they might start auto locking stuff after 60 or 90 days.
But why this thread?
Sigh. Warlocks always soul stoning the wrong thing.
NTM timegates on your every activity and ransoming flight for over half the expansion to force feed you little itty bitty installments of their pathetically empty “content.”
In that same thread someone asked why necro’ing threads is bad. Here’s an example of why. It’s usually garbage topics like this one that get necro’d.
It’s ok. But that’s the thing, it makes the game just ok. My opinion, of course, but it’s immersion breaking and waters down the overall experience.
In game content has already been made for them. It called a WoW Token and you can earn it through any activity that generates gold!
Fixed that for you. Let’s not generalise.
The subject of your post will not happen until the day subscription numbers drop so low that they cannot support ongoing development. WoW makes way too much money off its subs to change its model anytime soon.
And ultimately its a matter of choice. Are you forced to buy anything from the store? No. Is there anything on the store that provides a gaming advantage? No.
Would they put loot boxes in the store? I can’t say definitely not because in this world almost anything is possible. But the only way I’d see that happening is if it did indeed go to a non-sub model. And, as I said, I can’t see that for WoW for a very long time to come.
I feel like the people complaining about WoW’s very small cash shop has never actually seen a game embrace their cash shop.
Activision Blizzard moving down the Fallout 76 route.
