You realize that Activision said they are changing Blizzard’s IPs to be like CoD right?
What is your point?
I almost had one. It was in my cart at Target.com, but my CC was out of date and by the time I updated it they were sold out
Also people seem to forget that Sony hates crossplay and even Fortnight had to bribe them to allow it.
What is your point?
Are you referring to that because CoD are successful because of it (which was back in the xbox 360 days mind you), that should be enough to put WoW on consoles too?
I have one.
From a technical perspective there aren’t any huge blockers. PS5s are AMD-based x86 PCs with Radeon GPUs running a variant of FreeBSD (which is a sort of distant cousin of macOS, which WoW already runs on). Furthermore, the specs of PS5s are a great deal nicer than the PCs that the overwhelming majority of players run WoW on.
It’s really just a matter of will and addon support, the latter of which could mostly be fixed by rolling the most “essential” addons into the default UI or by Blizzard launching their own in-game addon manager.
I do too. Someone tweeted an Amazon link that the scalper bots weren’t built to handle and it was actually really easy to get. I’m confident that the “shortage” is at least half artificially induced by scalper trash.
You didn’t have a point.
No, I am talking about Activision’s statements about Blizzard’s IPs.
…Okay. I mean you didn’t made it clear until now, but okay. Fair enough i suppose.
So you’re saying CoD isn’t always on consoles then? Because that’s the point i’ve said there to your odd comment.
Quit putting words in my mouth. You made that up all by yourself.
You’re gonna be hard-pressed to tell me how anything i’ve said is a lie here, especially since i’m refering to my quote here to your odd comment.
Just forget it you don’t get it. I don’t care if you can’t understand it.
It wouldn’t just be a “slap it on and call it a day” thing, but given that the modern consoles are x86 PCs, the only thing they’d have to potentially wrestle with is packaging, since the executables used are different for the usual security and walled garden reasons. Most of the Windows customization for the Xbox is actually just stripping it down, since there are a lot of things you don’t really need on an Xbox that a general purpose PC OS would need to have (ie the Xbox doesn’t really need to include a robust set of printer drivers, as an example. ).
There is a reason Microsoft is pushing cross-buy so hard with stuff like Game Pass. It hasn’t ever been easier to release the same thing, with ultimately minor modification, for Xbox and PC simultaneously, which is another reason most of those games can also cross-play with each other.
Now that I think about it, I’m not entirely sure what the holdup would be. They’ve (Blizzard) previously released games for consoles, games exist for console with subscriptions, and it’s a relatively frictionless way to increase the player base (you can’t tell me the sum total of Mac gamers makes it that much more worthwhile), so I’d actually be curious to know what the official reason is. It would be dumb to think they haven’t or aren’t considering it.
No, i clearly get it now. You cleared up that Activision IP is wanting WoW to be like CoD in terms of how many platforms it’s gonna be on.
I don’t know how Something like WoW can be on consoles, let alone played by a controller, especially since you can play the game like you can with a console by plugging the PC to the tv, controller to PC, consoleport addon, so on.
I know it is tough to consider but it is going to mobile as well. You realize consoles support keyboards and mice right?
Here is an example of things to come: Windows 10 ARM64 Support on the Patch 9.1 PTR
True. The Bethesda collection shows that addons are totally doable.
Yeah, this a big part of the problem.
Wow, I didn’t think they’d jump on this quite so quickly. There has been rumor about Microsoft making their own chips and whatnot, but I guess having the Mac ARM support must have made this easier to go ahead and just implement. Neat!
Because consoles will want a cut. Especially Sony.
This will be interesting because the only Windows ARM devices worth considering buying are tablets. Outside of M1 Macs, currently the ARM laptop market is cornered by Chromebooks.
