WoW is now Barbie

I am angry about Blunderstorm as much as… well, there’s an awkward amount of people enjoying this stupid thing but. I just spent 6 hours on Trial of Style, I’ve known this was happening for quite some time.
Oh, don’t look at me like that, I like it, I got 6 wins! One I wasn’t even at keyboard for! (In trial of style that is, Plunderstorm can go suck an egg; I’m going to get temp banned for saying that!)

You do realize this has always been the case in mmorpgs… Right?

Even in EQ people wanted to look cool versus being optimal - example Erudite Shadow Knights.

I find it ironic that you chose the Barbie of WoW of all things to open this thread, op. Perhaps an Orc or something similar would have been better. :joy:

It’s been Barbie for like 13 years now.

I love the concept, the major city in War Within should be Barbieland and Brenda should be our warchief! We could have Hot wheel mounts and little pink Mellencamp houses. " From the mouth of babes "they say…

Come on,Barbies, let’s go party!

Wait… hold on.
Y’all are telling me this is an RP game??

Anybody walking in looking for new game concept…this one dropped in your lap for free this morning

Hello Barbie’s Adventure let’s go

…lol you’re playing a video game dude. It’s not any “cooler” than playing with literal dolls or action figures.

Hilariously though, many of the people with this whiny complaint really want some of the hardest to acquire mogs which often comes from places like the mage tower or mythic raid, and yet strangely don’t have them yet. Weird.

This is why North Korea is a superior country. They don’t concern themselves with such trivialities as fashion or hair styles. It’s a beige pant suit utopia.

OP isn’t wrong.

WoW is Fashion Souls, minus the Souls.

Yeah, really need that player power so i can no life the game and then win all the time. Crazy they even considered making it even for everyone

This is a micropatch that is essentially just a season reset. Plunderstorm is a temporary event, not the entire design of the game.

That, and plenty of people absolutely play this game almost exclusively to dress up their character at this point. I have heard people referring to themselves “playing Barbie” for years here.

A lot of people lean that way once they stop caring about the treadmill.

It is not a recent development.

The way I look at it, ilvls And gear are transitory and you’ll never be good enough. You could never get off that treadmill. And they have purposefully designed the game, so that there are lockouts, RNG and other factors that mitigate your ability to max out your toon Easily in a short amount of time. Take for example the Fryakk axe.

But mogs are forever. And so are mounts

And at the end of the day, isn’t that what we’re all about showing off that cool sword effect and that hard to get mount? It’s like the real world with your house, your fancy car and your high education degrees and certifications that you mount and display on the wall.

Or are you the kind of person that sits there and works really hard makes a lot of money and collect it and collect it and never spends it. You don’t wanna show anyone that you make money or at least that you make a lot of money. That outwardly you seem pretty average.

I think a lot of people fit into the category of if they have a car that they worked really hard to get. They’re going to take care of it and show it off as much as possible.

And blizzard has essentially captured this keeping up with the Joneses, or rather keeping up with the Leroys… If I see you on a floating horde or alliance flag mount, I’m gonna be jealous and try to figure out how to get it.

At least that’s how they think most of us process. As for me, I neither have the money nor the desire to show off anything so I don’t even know why I play this game. Barely play as it is. And the rewards I get are more participation than competition. :person_shrugging:

So that literally leaves me with FOMO rewards For others that didn’t play when I did. And perhaps my Barbie doll looks better for whatever reason.

This is why I don’t take the game so seriously because this down the rabbit hole logic trying to figure out why you play the game bring out the worst of us.

They are focused on easy aesthetic content in wow that they can later rotate through the trading post.

Old blizzard is gone but I would hope the new blizzard would at least add wow content to wow when they advertise it as such. Shoving hearthstone and refortnite into the game doesn’t really cut it.

Bug forums are very active, class imbalance is still a large issue, and apparently for anyone in the world, we plant seeds and wait for a slow tree to walk a few hundred yards once a week. But they hype up a wow patch for something that isn’t even wow content and the players are considered entitled to expect wow in wow. There’s not even a 10.3 coming. Just a new season.

Always has been [since tmog was added at least]

always has been

BARBIE!? Next thing you know everything’s gonna be pink and ribbony.
