It’s probably the usual “Person X doesn’t invite me to +51238 because of raider io”.
In another thread yesterday, some douchetwinkie named Shindig or Shinchickens or whatever pointed to my casual gear set as a reason to invalidate my thinking he was a complete idiot for suggesting it’s a good idea to remove healers from the game. And he was a complete idiot because saying that removing healers would improve the game is the type of stupid you normally only get from people too high to remember their own names.
But anyway, he crapped on my ilevel implying my opinion didn’t matter because I wasn’t a try-hard like him … even though, again, he was obviously a moron. So the casual hating does happen here.
What if I’ve already figured that out for myself? You’re operating on the assumption that I don’t know what is good.
I know what is good. I know the average UH DK will outperform the average Enhancement Shaman.
So back to my original point, why would I make an assumption that a weaker spec will outperform a stronger spec? I haven’t played with these particular PuGs before, that’s the entire point of PuGs, so why wouldn’t I make my assumptions on who will or won’t brick my key based on spec?
I’ve already answered your question: community perception is skewed and biased pertaining to balance and you don’t need to be a certain spec to do content.
If you “know what’s good” and base your invites on class spec, then that’s fine. Just don’t deny being an elitist (which is what this whole thread is about).
Basing invites on spec alone regardless of player ability. Happens to me a lot, people ask what spec I am and invite me when I say Elemental. They would deny me if I said Enhancement (which brings about the same DPS and more raid utility at the cost of being melee). Also happens to a good friend of mine that crushes, but he’s a sworn Survival hunter player, so he has to fight the stigma the community places on him regardless of performing better than the vast majority.
Anyways, it’s late. I’ve made my point and moving on. If you don’t agree, then that’s fine. My opinion on this isn’t really going to be swayed. You can’t say WoW isn’t elitist when people live and die by RaiderIO
People like you act like there are tons of good guilds and groups desperately needing people. That is a big falsehood. It is hard work to find groups that progress and after that you have to develop some type of relationship with them. There are real people behind the avatars we play some are good , some feel they are world caliber the best player ever etc and navigate to find your place in the mix is harder than ever.
I know so many people on their 5th guild in a search for the so called good group and Shadowlands with all its systems has made it harder than ever to keep interested. I find it disheartening and shameful that they released the game in this state and expect people to pay for it.
Ty for your time–signed a deleted toon of a former player
That’s not “elitist”, that’s using the right tool for the job.
Melee are a dime a dozen. And at least in raids, you always want a 2-to-1 ratio of ranged to melee. There will always be more melee wanting to raid than there are spots for melee.
Basing your invites on spec alone (when all specs can do the content) is indeed elitist.
Then don’t bring a tank or a healer, either.
It might be too late in the night for me, but I can’t stop blinking at this take lol.
You said spec doesn’t matter, so… okay. Don’t bring a tank or a healer.
You’re arguing in bad faith, my dude. You know exactly what I’m implying. You still need correct roles, but yeah, again, you know that and just want to be a contrarian. Okay, muting and moving on.
Melee and Ranged are different roles, though. They have different jobs.
Heck, they even get targeted by different mechanics.
Have you played literally any other game? These forums are tame as hell.
The reality is that the game just straight isn’t good anymore.
I’ve already answered your question: community perception is skewed and biased pertaining to balance and you don’t need to be a certain spec to do content.
Except it’s never been an issue of “need”.
You could do any content in the game as Survival or Enhancement. But why would I take unnecessary risks when I can just take better specs?
Just don’t deny being an elitist (which is what this whole thread is about).
Honestly, I don’t care about the label. I would never take OP into a group, not because of Covenant or Spec, but purely because he hasn’t got any enchants at all.
If you can’t even do something as basic as that, why would I trust him with my key?
Basing your invites on spec alone (when all specs can do the content) is indeed elitist.
lmao
If you think this is elitist, then the label means literally nothing.
Are you playing victim? Blaming others for your misfortune?
Why?
So, they don’t invite you to their party. It’s ok, they didn’t invite me as well. It’s time to make our own parties…
Looking at icy veins for far to long or whatever? Well stop if you want to. Just try not to blame others for the same thing you are doing. It’s ok /pat I understand you heard about RaidIO and only used it once /pat.
Just Pick any covenant you want, I did. Meh. I play my way. You can too.
Enjoy the game.
Spec =/= role.
Read the post 2 below the one you quoted, please.
I mean you’re not wrong… but sadly WoW’s ALWAYS been a elitist mess and as it goes on it just gets slowly worse.
Achivements, gear score, ilevel, it all helps people discriminate against the “filthy casuals” AKA those people who don’t treat WoW like it’s their career. It’s not about having fun or playing the game in the way you want. It’s about the numbers, and the meta, and the BiS, and can we do this dungeon AS FAST AS PHYSICALLY POSSIBLE. WoW’s community is a collection of some of the most toxic, snobbish, elitist people you will find almost anywhere.
Sad, really.
Tldr: WoW has an excessive elitism problem.
I love complaining about tryhards as much as any other sane person but elitism is a problem in all games especially those that have a “competitive” scene.
It won’t be toned down unless Blizzard removes things like World First race and Mythic+ championship (Like seriously exploiting mechanics is now a e-sports).
It’s here to stay and like an untreated infection it’s only gonna get worse.
Collections tab is true end game.
Dont forget the Xmogs! Its all about the dress up I choose my Covenant based on which set I thought looked best in hindsight should have checked what it looked like on my race first xD still like it though I just lucked out that Kyrian totem is actually pretty good and helps w heals in pvp in a pinch
