Thank you OP. It is true that these games attract that type of person who fails at life. Earlier mmos used to cater to them exclusively. WoW was actually one of the first casual mmos to break away from that, but now its going back in that direction.
While people like this should be free to play mmos, companies should not be catering to them. Its unhealthy, and makes them an even less productive member of society. It also kills the game for normal people.
correct me if i’m wrong, but things like island expeditions warfronts pet battles single player scenarios like visions/torghast etc probably aren’t catered to those people… but they are major features every patch/expansions
is this even happening? or arewe yelling at… nothing?
He’s gotten to my last nerves. If he flips on this issue I’m going to start linking his old posts. Though I guess hypocrisy wouldn’t have any affect on him.
i saw someone quote a bunch of his posts where he said ion was dumb, that if shadowlands had “external power” hed quit for SWTOR (i remember this one because i love SWTOR), and that covenants were going to suck because they make you pick between aoe and ST
It’s a shame the moderators haven’t done anything about him. I’ve watched good people like Mortis get terribly mistreated, only for trolls like Ralph to walk away unscathed.
Why are you so concerned with how other people play the game? Are you making up a narrative that competitive players are somehow devoid of self-worth to make yourself feel superior to them?
So artifacts effectively locking you to a spec isn’t a meaningful choice, but covenants effectively locking you to a form of content is?
If that’s true, then I find it really interesting that you have the opinion that artifact weapons aren’t a meaningful choice to you.
Why do you care about what tryhards do? If you’re willing to play the covenant that you enjoy over the covenant that does the most damage, why aren’t you willing to play the talents and corruptions you enjoy in the same vein?
Do you think that the same issues you have with corruptions and talents will magically be a non-issue for covenants? I’d love to see the line of logic that allowed you to appear at that conclusion.
You keep saying that. Who’s “they”, and how are “they” forcing you to do anything?
The difference being that once I have the gear, I can try out different combinations with the gear and if I don’t like one, I can swap the gear out without it going on a weekly cooldown.
Choice™
This won’t have an impact on stacking.
It’s a MMORPG, the “way it is meant to be played” is open-ended.
This is a cop-out for said strengths and weaknesses not existing in classes and specs. They already have that whole shtick covered in the game, covenants aren’t there for it. Tying player power to covenants just shifts the focus away from the theme of the covenant to optimization.
I disagree completely. Choices that aren’t actually choices (illusion of choice; azerite) just exist to convolute the system and take away from making the base experience more interesting. BFA didn’t progress my character…it progressed my character’s cloak and neck instead…just to hand them off here in a couple of months. What did my character “gain” from the experience? Nothing. RPG my behind.
Covenants is more of the same, I hate to tell you.
For some people this is yea a video game but atm people like me that cant leave their homes due to covid its a hobby and more. I treat my toons like a version of myself. Its all I can do at the moment.
This is an example of casualism. Its like elitism for casuals that drives hurting how a player enjoys the game because they hate that others like to be optimal.
Just know that it doesnt matter what you think. If you are underperforming compared to your peers you will be kicked. Get used to it. Thats not changing.
