WoW is a cesspool of online bullying

This game just attracts people with low emotional IQs sadly. The art style and how generic the IP tends to pull a lot of people that aren’t MMO gamers.

I’ve met so many people that this is the only video game they play lol. A lot of them aren’t versed in gaming culture. Other genres have toxicity too, but WoW has notorious among MMOs for having a poor community.

Also the reason its hard to understand why people get so bent out of shape when someone criticizes them.

You dont know that person and will likely never interact with them again. Why care what they think?

People shouldn’t have to be told what to do. Something is wrong lol.

Hiding the Chat isn’t.

which is sad really, cause when you think about it since they’ll “never likely see them again” that one instance (or multiple) of rudeness is the first and only impression anybody will have of them, what happens if someone asks “do you know so and so?”? the answer would be “yeah I ran into them once, they were a complete ________!”.

see thats because this is your typical MMO player

I think this has made it worse too. The focus WoW has put on M+ and e-sports has just killed my desire to play the game anymore.

It is pretty clear that Act-Blizz doesn’t have a clue how to foster development studios that actually have gamers best interest at heart anymore.

Yes because games like gta, cod, lol are upstanding communities.

Before you say tabletop, I’ve read those dnd stories, tales from your dm or whatever the subreddit is.

It’s not much better.

Its no more hard to understand for me than why some people become suicidal when they are abused on social media by people they don’t know. You don’t know them, certainly, but you are still being hurt. It’s as if you are in a room full of students at school you don’t know and they are shouting at you telling you that you’re useless and stupid and fat or whatever. Being a stranger does not make it not be abuse.

Thats true. Its not about a fun adventure anymore.

Its just a hyper competitive, race the timer, keep up with the jonses style hamster wheel.

I get that, but people have to learn to let things roll off them.

Sticks and stones may break but bones but words will never hurt me.

If some nerd is raging on you, leave. Problem solved.

Have a giggle at them being buttmad.

So, just leave the room?

Hiding chat or unjoining it is a basic function this game lacks. It needs a toggle switch.

So you picked some of the worst offenders in gaming and? WoW still has the worst community among MMOs. Toxicity in other MMOs can’t hold a candle to WoW’s toxic community.

Actually it does have that.

It’s underneath the options in the chatbox via by Right click and all you have to do is uncheck all the player things and you essentially hid your chat.

Click combat log, boom.

Works every time

I assume OP has never played a MOBA? lol, but on a serious note, eventually you’ll grow to just laugh at the morons, it’s not healthy to get all riled up over what some douche says to you on the internet.

Report them and move on, the more you react to them, the more you incentivize that behavior and good or bad, you can’t sanitize the internet.

Essentially is not my big red button. You NEED THE BIG RED BUTTON.

Some of us are decent human beings as much as possible because what we think of ourselves matters. You can hide behind anonymity from others, but you always know what you said and how you treated people.

Nobody is perfect, least of all me, but if I say tough things to you here, I would say them to your face. I think it’s cowardly to do otherwise.
