WoW has become so unfun

It is a MMORPG

You can’t define a MMORPG without including WoW, unless you use a definition specifically designed to exclude it that you won’t see used anywhere else in the industry

Being unable to come to terms to this makes a conversation useless.

Being unable to accept such a fundamental aspect of the game, the genre, makes me believe you are not here with honest intentions.

Nah, removing stuff for the sake of balance, like say choosing what types of weapons you’d like to play with, is removing the RPG from the game.

They removed ammo, soul pouches, pet feeding/happiness, thrown weapons, and entire reworks so Druids don’t have Idols anymore, Shaman don’t carry totems, you get it.

It’s like 90% less RPG than it used to be, all in the name of convenience and balance.

None of that is required to be a RPG.

Those were the roleplaying aspects of WoW.

Now there’s functionally no difference between a warlock’s pet, a DK’s pet, and a hunter’s pet.

Every class has builder-spender, it’s pretty template and homogenized.

Distinct lack of flavor compared to older class design, even if the rotations sucked.

Once again.

This is not about WoW not having as many RPG elements you would personally like. That is a different conversation.

It’s a simple yes/no.

If WoW is not considered a MMORPG, then I question if the genre even exists.

I can’t think of a single game that meets the standard being placed on WoW

It’s “less RPG than it used to be”, that’s your answer.

“Yes, but in decline.”

Ok. So the person I was responding to said it was not at all.

That was the entire point of anything I stated

You can feel it’s in decline.i don’t.

I don’t think a game has to be tedious and boring to be a RPG. But that isn’t what I was talking about.

In my opinion, it has become extremely diverse. And that diversity does not work in favor of the game but against it.
WoW is today like a sum of all MMORPG games. It has everything that many have but in 1 game. It has e-sport segments, and lore segments, and professions, and exploration, and achievements, and transmog, and collections, and guild play and solitary play, delves, M+, raid -lfr, normal, mythical-, raid timewalking, dungeon timewalking, etc.
Try explaining this to a new player. I am a guide on the newcomers chat. When someone asks “How do I get from SW to…” I hold my head. “Take the tram to Ironforge, then fly to Menethil Harbor…” “Tram???” and at this point I already invited him to the party and accompanied him.
The game has become extremely extensive and complex. I think the current saga will end because it is impossible for it to continue growing and be understandable to new players.

You don’t need tank or heals for questing in open world, right? And TW right now is tuned about like open-world quest mobs. Feels like it, anyway.

Some players love faceroll content. Look how popular Remix was. Not my cup of tea; I prefer at least a little challenge, but to each their own.

What you can’t expect is for players to treat faceroll content like it was challenging. Why should they?

Thats how its been since the beginning though, trying to appeal to as many as possible. Thats long been what I consider its strength.

If I do less damage in trivial content where I can’t even do an entire rotation before something dies, that means my p p is small.

Ok add this to the other pile of im not actually leaving and want attention.

You mean in time walking? Dungeons that dont matter and the scaling effects no one negitivly? They just for funsies

Subjective i have loads of fun.

Let me fix that. DPS doing DPS makes you upset and meters showing you doing low DPS make you upset because you rather think you good then actually be good. Gotcha

So DPS shouldnt do DPS? What?

So again DPS doing their job as DPS makes you upset for whatever reason. Im assume you pull 1 mob at a time and your group got annoyed because you selfishly want them to cater to you. News flash tanks can survive multiple mobs not just a single mob.

Thats not an addon issue thats a you issue. Your lack of skill ruins the time for others and instead of coming here asking how to improve you rather blame everyone else. Geez you are probably just another asmonite who wants to get their leaders favor and hopes he notices your lame forums post.

Tank is the most important role in any content now we know you are either trolling or havent even touched end game content like raids or keys.
Stop doing the baby content designed to be quick and easy and take 5 minutes and try raids and keys you will probably enjoy that allot more since you get triggered for people going quick and probably just trying to level quickly. Tho thinking on it you will probably freak out because of the timer or having to pull more then 1 mob.

Edit: if you actually want to improve and ready to stop blaming everyone else talk to me i love helping new players

I mean, I wish I could tame Demons…I’d have so much fun with that. The doggies, not the Felguards or Manari…y’know what… putting a collar and leash on humanoid Demons.

Dude just unsub for a while. Don’t need to be all dramatic and say it’s forever. Any time the game feels unfun to play stop playing it. When you come back later it will feel better.

Update, just capped a MW monk yesterday. Within an hr of capping I started healing keys which is a much harder role this go around than tanking is, I know because my main is a tank :). So again, why are you queuing for trivial content and then complaining about it?

I cant tell if wow is burning out, or i am. This patch, i feel, isnt very exciting. And if it were me, id have skipped releasing Siren Isle because it only seems to have reinforced a lacklust patch.

Just my thoughts.

I hope 11.1 blows me out of the water.
