WoW has become so unfun

The old guards pretty much been chipped away. The older crowd of adults who played at launch have aged out of being able to compete with the kids who started in MoP and Legion so they either quit or are relegated to world content.

Younger folks when it launched like myself and id assume you have just played so much it’s become stale or just too routine in content cadence.

PvP kept WoW alive for me for a long time, but anybody pretending like it’s alive rn is just lying to themselves. It’s been on life support for years now and moving to solo q PvP is basically Blizzard pulling the plug on it.

The game itself isn’t bad, it has bad design aspects, it’s just dated and stale.

Edit 1: when they go to modernize aspects like Dragon riding or the upcomming D.R.I.V.E system people just cry about it.

This is yet another horrendously poor scaling issue, not a dps meter issue. Scaling will always be awful, and players will always look to exploit it. When I get one of those L10 warriors, I just run along behind them and tag the boss. It’s stupid and boring, but you get through it and there’s really no point in trying to dps anyway.

My biggest hope is that Player Housing brings at least a few folks back, and maybe even attracts new audiences. Done right (a huge IF), Midnight could be the start of the RPG revolution and the revamp we’ve needed since MoP, but TWW and DF just feel like filler expansions before we get to the actual plot and development in Midnight.

yes you should. hate to break it to you but if you are losing your mind over a dps doing dps things then just wait until you make a mistake in m+ as a tank hoooo boy thats when things can get down right nasty.

I will turn 51 in April and was 32 when I started playing. I enjoyed the concept of the game. Very D&D-esque, and having always been a Tolkien fan, some of my employees talked me into giving it a try. My wife was intrigued and eventually became the Resto Druid to my Paladin tank. I really want more from the game, and having followed another groups “concept videos” for awhile, I think I may give it a go just to test the waters. As for retail, it just keeps getting bigger and bigger, and the more toxic it gets, the less I find myself being a gamer and the more I slip into the “yeah, you want a fight, you got one” mentality.

God I hope so. I have never unsubbed from this game willingly, and only once ever had my sub lapse for 4 hours when I forgot to re-up. My time does not run out til like August 2025, but without more customizations, and race class combos, I already know there is a Gnome Druid tank hybrid class sitting in another “Project” that I have my eyes on.

The game is a mess right now. Lower level dungeons don’t teach anyone how to really play – you just smash and bash your way through; granted, I’m not complaining about it. The problems arise during end game content when these players assume they can muscle their way through M+, which results in toxicity, bricked keys, and countless forum threads about it.

How does Blizz fix it? At this point, I don’t think they can. Unfortunately, I guess it’s put up and shut up when dealing w leveling or TW dungeons.

Dps meters help people determine if they are playing their class at certain benchmarks. They are helpful.

IO helps groups identify players who are capable of content they’re forming for.

TWW is the funnest I have had raiding or in Mythics in years.

My 2 cents

…if DPS can pull off you and there ISNT an oh sh-- moment for the dps, it means the content you’re doing is trivial for both you and the other players.

In higher keys there absolutely is a good chance DPS will go splat if they pull before the tank. Heck, even in a 7 l, I’ve seen DPS die because they pulled ahead and rightfully earned their death.

Hmm, did some dungeon finder dungeons today huh?

Yea thats not the reason. You are wanting to quit because something tells me you arent doing what you should as a tank and the meters are showing it. You know it shows more then just dps right?
But hey youre welcome to quit and if you do send me all your gold because no one besides your fellow asmonites care.

Removing the addons isn’t going to make low level characters do less damage, or go slower.

DPS meters have existed literally since Vanilla.
Gear score visibility has been a thing ever since ilevel was made visible.
DPS sole job in a dungeon is to do damage, so of course they are going to be focused on their damage output, it’s literally their entire purpose.

Or atleast make that DPS that pulls all the aggro before the tank has touched a thing, regret it, just a little. Make them think OOPS.

When I tanked waaaaay back in the day on the regular, I used to regularly run with a healer friend. We’d start the dungeon off with a message that “You are not the tank. If you pull it you’re tanking it.” And if DPS got impatient and decided they were going to pull before me anyway, they’d learn real quick that initial message given was truth in advertising. The healer would rez them after the pull and chat in the party “Now, what did we learn?”

I miss those days.

But if you feel like you aren’t having fun then go play something else. This is a game. And if you aren’t having fun playing, then find something you do find fun. I tell that to any and everyone.

DPS addons are a tool used to gauage how good you are doing. Takinf them away will just cause more issues. Sounds more like a git gud problem

Scaling is frustrating when they dont jave it set right. If they worked better with it. Well… wouldn’t be an issue right.

I don’t see the game going back from add-ons and such but everyone saying git gud and telling OP to quit is just showing why this community is terrible and the game is slowly imploding.

This has been a bad season and a lot of players are unhappy and leaving and there’s a whole parade of people encouraging them out the door.

These forums are trash and so are most of the people on it.

Sorry you’re not having fun anymore. I’m having so much fun with this game still.

I’m not sure what you want us to do for you.

Kind of interesting how people’s opinions will differ completely.

Real, tell them. Also Dracarian you should check out Jay the Bard on classic. He’s cool and does cool rp stuff, sings lotro songs too. :slightly_smiling_face:

WoW is no longer an MMORPG. Its a check list/dungeon simulator. With scaling, leveling is pointless, literally pointless. Every patch they buff mobs to scale with our new power gains… Like wtf?

Again its no longer a MMORPG its a simulator at this point.

Also they don’t hire devs based on merit or skill. They do it based on pronouns and feelings now. And my god does it show.

A lot of what you are saying is very valid. The people arguing against you are just your typical cooked wow players sitting in a main city spam queuing over and over. They’re just mad that you call in to question their precious DPS chart. The wow community has lost the definition of a good game long ago. Mixed level dungeons are a good example you bring up, that stuff is goofy as hell, emersion breaking, and just downright lazy by blizzard. Every expansion blizzard does something else to just ruin the game mechanic by mechanic. People will say it’s QOL but no it’s just making the lazy happier, and the top .5% slightly happy.
