That just sounds not fun at all. I read comments above what is done in game, but maybe they will add more stuff later. Right now, it feels like a game where it is teaching people how to pave areas to make new Amazon distribution centers.
I played it on the first night and it was a nice distraction for a bit. The combat system is about as basic and boring as it gets. Clicking a mouse button for most of the fighting made it feel so bland and mundane for me.
I explored, levelled up quite a bit and thereâs a ton of instances where assets are re-used over and over again. The mobs are usually wolves, zombies, more zombies, Turkey, more wolves. It just feels so repetitive and not in a good way.
Hoofing every where on foot, no mounts of any kind and a fast travel that requires pretty hefty currency to have to farm for.
The crafting seems okay, but after picking up flint on the beach and chopping down the 54576th tree in a row, it just doesnât scream fun or relaxing to me.
This game is a flash in the pan and others will see.this isnât on the level of WoW and even on the level of FFXIV and I hate that game with a burning passion.
New World is a hot mess, to each their own, but itâs easily one of the most over hyped games Iâve ever experienced. I remember the hype for the Warhammer MMO over a decade ago, this has that exact same feel to it for me.
I started to play New World and itâs far from perfect , but it keeps me engaged and fun. Immersion of the game is on whole new level. What may affect the game is the territory control. If you are PVE player it will limit you what and where you can sell because maybe other faction took control over that zone. Iâm having blast so far , but it wonât last if it keep this scheme
WoW dropped to number 4 now.
It is barely above 1 million subs. Lost 85% of slands buyers.
had already lost most of those prior to the sexual harassment lawsuits and other workplace misconduct issues
the game design is just bad, the monetization design is way too heavy, fun has been forgotten as any goal in the design
all they design around is tolerance levels - how much grind will a player endure for a specific level of carrot
grind equals recycled assets without new content, grind equals /timeplayed, grind is directly correlated to cash shop gold sales
they canât make extra revenue with subs (it has been permanently down since the end of WoD), they are making it all up via the cash shop
Itâs definitely causing the game to lose more players though. Itâs not thee thing killing the game just one of the 100s of things.
Itâs not like their sub count is sector 7 classified above top secret. Itâs not some ancient mystery that canât be solved.
Agree, seems like NW Dev team has a good plan to retain players. Average WoW sub plays 1-3 months a year. I have been subbed for 3 months this year and fit into that statistic. Sub here runs out again and gonna enjoy New World the rest of the year. I might play my Twinks some since I can f2p them but that is the only thing fun left for me here, is playing low level content since itâs much better and more fun than max level.
High Elf Hairstyles for Void Elves probably.
New World is seriously not that fun. You have three abilities, and other than that you just spam your basic attack. The whole game is just running for miles to get to quests and spending 6 minutes to chop down a tree.
Have you actually immersed yourself into the fun that is New World?
First the amount of abilities doesnât determine whether a game is âFUNâ Next the combat is what is fun since itâs an action MMORPG. I can say that WoWâs combat is boring and not fun. Not to mention lets not act like some specs in WoW donât press 3 keys. The class design here is lost and NW has more depth to builds then WoW.
If NW is so fun, why are you trolling the WoW forums instead of playing it?
âIâm not a trollâ is your response, guaranteed.
I have 109 hrs logged playing it this week. Just because you donât like the topic doesnât mean you get to label it as trolling. This topic is clear itâs to discuss how Bliz can retain players again and fix/improve the game. Itâs been an issues for a few expansions now that has really peaked in SL where players have just had enough and now, there are actually other great MMOs to play.
So what will happen with WoW? Will they change their design philosophies to keep up with the times and other games that are growing. Guess time will tell if they can or want to compete anymore.
Yea but you donât actually know what a troll is. The topic is clear, if you donât want to discuss it you donât have to be here. If you canât discuss the topic then you are actually trolling. Obvious is obvious. Good day.
PS - My sub runs out again in a few days as mentioned above, then iâll be only f2p here.
In my opinion I believe New World wonât last very long I think just build up hype, most reviews for game are mix or negative. Itâs only has a 67% users enjoy the game.
FF will remain King for sometime til WoW gets back on track, probably be a rollercoaster up and down on activity and subs. Iâd mention other mmoâs but there player base mostly in Thousands range. Most players think WoW has alarming rate of low population but most MMOs donât have over 1m players. The mmorpg industry isnât exactly growing it is quite opposite. WoW will always be the staple of Mmoâs so as long it has a IP it will always be popular.
Yea but that is because of launch and 8 hour Que times. It was 50% but now the reviews are coming in positive now that people can play the game and early bugs are being fixed. Itâs kinda funny how people never experienced or forget what a busy MMO launch looks like and give a bad review.
You are free to your opinion, I think NW has the most potential of any MMO in the last 10 years.
Yea their New expansion will likely draw a massive amount of player that havenât made the jump yet. As per the topic, when will WoW get back on track? Itâs been years that they have been derailed and starting to think that perhaps Blizz and WoW will never get back on track again. They might just continue to milk the sinking ship.
This is true but 1m is low for WoW and that is a dying population and game.
A game that has 200k players and grows too 400k players is doing far better than a game that had 5-6 million players and now has 1 million. One game is growing and that is where players want to be while the game with 1 million is dying and driving away players.
Whatâs important is the psychology of an MMO player, itâs their perception of whether a game is dying or not. If everyone thinks WoW is dying then they wonât play the game and it will die. This is why Blizz tries to hide Sub counts to control the narrative. Since losing millions of subs means the game is in fact dying. So players will migrate to a game that is growing.
You mean active players or paying subs? They list the active players their quarterly reports. âData from Blizzardâs Q2 earnings call reveals that the current amount of WoW monthly active users (MAU) sits at around 26 million players (worldwide).â The 3rd quarter just ended last week so we should have the latest data pretty soon. Thatâs across all versions of the game. The game last peaked during Legion at 46 million.
I mean paying subs. There is currently between 1.2 and 1.6 million Subs according to scrubbing tons of metrics and data.
Wrong, that isnât how you look at the data. 26 million MAU is across all games. One person can account for several MAUâs. If you play Diablo, Overwatch, Heathstone and WoW you are counting for 4 MAUs. That is how it works.
So when Blizz had only 26 million MAUâs in WoD then released OW that number shot up dramatically with a new IP (more games = more MAUâs) Now for them to drop back down too pre Overwatch number despite players being counted there starts to reveal the true state of Activision games and WoW.
The 26 million MAUâs despite having more games isnât good. This is why SL has had the largest player loss in history beating out WoD.
Again that is all games and the huge initial success of Overwatch.
WoD actually had more Subs then Legion at peak since most people were happy MoP was over. So WoD had a massive spike at launch and was extremely popular, then Blizz didnât make content for it and that is when their issues started.

Warhammer only had two factions no?
Order vs. Chaos
Nah, I already discussed this and it is just not true - but people care even less about it in FF than they do in WoW.
Also, you should stop being such a puritan. Puritans are the worst kind of people.
New World is going to lose people fast with their insane queue sizes. Their servers are capped out at 2k so people are waiting 3-15 hr long queues. Yes there are some new servers added, but those who saved their names, play with friends and are in âguildsâ (I think they are called companies there) arenât going to make new characters on new servers.
Their naming system sucked too. Like WoW and all other mmos it is based on the server. In New World it isnât. If you make a name on one server then it is taken on ALL their servers. If you were saving a name and got and deleted it to make quickly on another server, there is a 90 day lock on the character so you better hope after 90 days to that minute you make that character with that name.
Having said that, after 3-6 months the population will drop a lot. It is a niche mmo. It is fun though for sure, but not your typical mmo which is why I feel it will be a very niche mmo. It is pvp/crafting focused and you better have good aim as well especially if you are going to use a ranged weapon.
New World sucks.
Bad enemy AI (worst Iâve seen in awhile)
Bad quests/lore/no depth
Terrible animations.
Choppy/laggy gameplay with 75-100 fps.
Upcoming p2w in a year, already leaked.
Enjoy your new game for a month before you realize itâs garbage.
ESO does everything better than New World.
As long as the dev that put in the reset to renown level 40 when you swap covenants is still allowed to make design decisions, this game will continue to tankâŚ
