WoW Classic Era Realm Connections Coming May 18

I don’t speak for everyone, but I’m one of the few that doesn’t mind “dead” servers. I expect the flow of the things to be no different than what I already deal with on its “slow” time. Who knows? Since, it might be the ONLY “unconnected” Realm, we might get people flowing here because it’s NOT “connected” to anything :woman_shrugging:

Well, let us know how many people are on BB Classic later today. I am morbidly curious.

Sure. Like I said, I expect the traffic to be similar to how it is, late at night, when most of the server is asleep. Takes about 45 minutes to form a dungeon group, during that time, but it’ll happen

EDIT: With the release of BC, I expect BB (Classic Mode) to not be so active during the first initial BC phase. I expect it’ll “pick up”, when some (not all) get bored of BC or whatever, for a short period of time. Also, not to brag, but BB is home to the “Hardcore Challenge”.

What many seem to forget is that yes, it might take longer to form a guild, find players for groups, but once you did, people will stick around.

That is the big difference to xrealm communities, the sheer amount of players will be so high at the Era realms that you can kick a low dps or drop your guild without any issues of getting into another.

Besides that, my Vanilla realm is RP and a low pop, yet I see tons of players each time I log on. I love to fish and when I venture the shores I always see others, so if that is the truth for other low pops, then I dont even want to know how it must be like in future when high pops are connected with each other.

It all looks like a huge annoyance to me, when I have to compete with people from other realms all the time for herbs, ore and quest mobs.

Blizzard should have maybe offered xrealm group and raiding, but leave the realms alone. By doing so, those afraid to not find a raid, could still connect with thousands and the realm communities would remain unique.

I would say “the minority” people, in general. Before all of this Connected stuff, there’s a guy who plays on Skeram (which is 96% Horde and 4% Alliance) as Alliance, and they’re all their own community and HAVE completed Naxx and stuff. Stubborness can sometimes be a good thing

Because BB is an RP Server, I plan to create my own RP-esque type of Guild dedicated to Nelves, only. That’s later down the line, though. You can be your own community, regardless of how big nor small you are.

If it would mean not being on a PVP realm, then yes. I don’t PVP and would not want to be forced into it.

I am sure they have done their research.

And! You are fooling yourself if you think there are going to be 30,000 active after today on Classic ERA. That’s just not realistic thinking.

So I will have to play and see those toxic players from Faerlina who I’ve been avoiding since the lunch of Classic… Thanks Blizzard.

I hope to see you there

It’ll be a while. I’ve got other things to do in-game.

You don’t seem to understand it is Classic Era. 90% of the player base will be in TBC. Most of us have completed a lot of what we wanted to do in Classic.

The Classic Era active population will not be large. If the servers were to stay as individual servers there would have not been enough players to kill world bosses. The realm connections that have been made will be good for Classic Era. You overestimate how many people will actively be playing Classic Era.

Again, duplicate names can easily be accommodated by affixing an alfa-numeric code to each duplicate. The code is user transparent but it creates unique IDs for same names

Yes we are well aware that there is a programmatic way to address dup names, but that doesn’t address the social aspect of it.

Is there any news on what will happen to the RP-PVP servers? Grobbulus and Deviate Delight will be losing a lot of players if there is no merge.

Westfall is fairly popular also, not sure their thought process

lmao ok…

Hmmm. . . social aspect? IRL there’s generally no problem if more than one person has the same name. Why should it be a problem in-game?

I think the idea with a -realm suffix is for user-friendly input & memory “faerlina” vs “netherwind” is much easier to recall & reconstruct than random codes

Deviate Delight will be unplayable. Any population they would add to Grob for Classic Era would be insignificant.

No word yet on connecting these two realms surprisingly.

I’d personally rather connect with the non-rp realm than the PvP realm. Very few people actually rp and when they do it’s not all the time, the rest of the time they’re playing normally. Suddenly adding forced world PvP is a terrible thing to do to non-pvp realms and I feel terrible for everyone who has to go through that.
