Honestly if they really still have all the data I’m going to be so freaking pissed.
I’ve been super critical of Blizzard on a number of their decisions since Classic launched and it all has to do with then back peddling on things they’ve told us.
We knew they were testing the retail client with the HC servers, so it was a given that it would role out to all ERA servers unless you actually though they were going to run a different client for HC vs the normal ERA servers.
Yes it will be a pain for a few days especially as add-ons get fixed and we figure out where some of the stuff is hidden in the UI, but I don’t really see at this point how its impacting actual gameplay.
On the positives side at least for HC, we have several days for add-ons to get fixed, or figure out where in the UI to fix a things like wanding, or seeing spell ranks.
Can you explain in a bit more detail what is happening here?
I think I represent the majority of folks when I say that I didn’t clone back in the original cloning window during TBC Classic, and would be open to paying for it should they bring it back.
What is the situation in which you are seeing certain characters after clicking the “restore deleted characters” button?
Personally, I think this ui change has something to do with combating bots. Maybe they integrated a better way to detect bots but needed retail ui to implement it? They did say they couldn’t tell us how they were going to fight botting because it would be counter intuitive, by giving botters insight as to how they can continue to avoid detection.
I’m just coping right now. This is such a bummer having era slowly rot away change by change.
Of my 8 original Classic chars, 2 of them were showing up under area to “undelete” along with my one of my deleted HC chars. I picked one at random and restored it and it does appear to have all its items. Unfortunately if I could clone/bring back a character I would have chosen one of the ones that wasn’t there.
Some things I no clue about:
If the closing and restore deleted functionality is the same
Why some characters are there and not others (2 out of 8)
From this perspective, Blizzards answer of the data is missing/gone, might actually be the truth for a lot of the characters, and its difficult to say why some might exist and if they show up for other people.
They do. They pulled a D4. Didn’t want to give you your BiS toon back because they want you to restart. To artificially make the game take more of your time. If people get their geared characters back, they get bored faster. Which means less Sub money for blizzard.
15$ transfer once and maybe only play a month or two after you get your character… or start from scratch and get 4 or 5 more sub fees out of you to level and gear another character. It’s called “business” (blizzard scamming its customers)
I only would have 1 character that got “snapshotted”, a lvl 60. That character is not visible in any “undelete” menu on any server that character was related to pre or post TBC classic.
downranks are hidden in spellbook, unless you check the box at the top of the book that says, show lower ranks.
talents:
the talent tree is reset but not clickable. to resolve this before an official fix, you have to go to your class trainer and ask/pay for a talent reset.
wanding:
when mobs get in range of your melee weapon, the auto wand shuts off and engages your melee weapon instead. to resolve this, you have to go to options>combat and scroll down to the auto attack feature and uncheck it.
mounts:
something about mounts making weird sounds when you press the space bar.
graphics:
updated graphics are causing lag for people who have older machines.
warriors:
not sure, but something to do with attacks and flashes.
grouping:
some people are having problems forming or joining groups
I had about 5 toons and none of them were 60, I deleted all but 2 (Priest 54 and Druid 50) before that I took the option to move all my toons to TB and eventually to Wrath. When I tried Classic again a few months ago I clicked the “Restore Deleted Char” and tried to restore these 2 toons but it said that the shop was unavailable. After Googleing this I found that because I quit in TB I never saw the pay to keep your clones so I was upset that the services was not available.
Fast forward to today, when I started wow a cinematic started playing which I canceled. As soon as my char screen came up at the bottom of the active characters I am playing was my 54 priest. I thought it was a joke but I was able to log in and reset his talents. Keep in mind I didn’t even go into restore for this toon he just showed up, however when I did go to restore there was my druid who I just clicked restore and there was listed in my active char list and again I was able to log in and all his stuff was still there.
