Why then with the update last Tuesday for Era did some players report that uncloned characters were showing up with the “restore” option? Which they were able to utilize.
As for the cloning, here is what I saw
Of my 8 original Classic chars, 2 of them were showing up under area to “undelete” along with my one of my deleted HC chars. I picked one at random and restored it and it does appear to have all its items. Unfortunately if I could clone/bring back a character I would have chosen one of the ones that wasn’t there.
Some things I no clue about:
If the closing and restore deleted functionality is the same
Why some characters are there and not others (2 out of 8)
From this perspective, Blizzards answer of the data is missing/gone, might actually be the truth for a lot of the characters, and its difficult to say why some might exist and if they show up for other people.
I had about 5 toons and none of them were 60, I deleted all but 2 (Priest 54 and Druid 50) before that I took the option to move all my toons to TB and eventually to Wrath. When I tried Classic again a few months ago I clicked the “Restore Deleted Char” and tried to restore these 2 toons but it said that the shop was unavailable. After Googleing this I found that because I quit in TB I never saw the pay to keep your clones so I was upset that the services was not available.
Fast forward to today, when I started wow a cinematic started playing which I canceled. As soon as my char screen came up at the bottom of the active characters I am playing was my 54 priest. I thought it was a joke but I was able to log in and reset his talents. Keep in mind I didn’t even go into restore for this toon he just showed up, however when I did go to restore there was my druid who I just clicked restore and there was listed in my active char list and again I was able to log in and all his stuff was still there.
Just a couple of examples. Looks like at least “some” of the data was archived.
