whenever i change to window mode in wow classic it changes back and forth quickly 3 or 4 times then crashes. The game plays fine in full screen but playing like that isnt practical since i use a 55 inch tv that sits 2 feet away. The BFA client and Private server clients both allow me to change to window mode fine, so its specific to Classic.
The error i get says “World of Warcraft was unable to start 3D acceleration.”
Computer specs :
I5-7400
GTX 1660ti
16gb ddr4 2400
256gb Crucial ssd
Windows 10 home
windows and graphics card are up to date

I found a workaround. on your blizzard app at the top left where is says blizzard click the drop down menu and click settings. then go to game settings. scroll down to World of warcraft classic and click the box that says additional command line arguments. in that box type -windowed

Glad that Mastrtraitor was able to help, but you should really report this in the WoW Classic Bug Report forum so the Classic devs become aware of the issue.

I tried but the new topic button is grayed out in that forum
Same here man. Keeps crashing, mentions something about 3D not working. No idea what’s going on

Thank You i was having the same issue and this fixed my problem
This made my day. Thanks for the help!
Are there any arguments that fix the inability to change which monitor its on? Or not being able to turn on triple buffering? Or to turn on Vsync?
I would suggest asking those questions in the tech support forum.
Thank you so so very much kind soul!
-windowed worked for me! Thank you Mastrtraitor!
One of my friends mentioned if you use discord and the discord overlay is enabled you might have trouble swapping to windowed mode. I tried it and sure enough it worked after disabling the discord overlay.
So you might give that a shot too if you’re having an issue with this.
