Wants to rewrite the constitution, that says it all.
Why do most public high schools require 4 years of english, but no civics/CS?
This is typical disqualifying deflection, isn’t it?
The issue of corporate power is beyond whatever horsecrap gets flung between left and right, because left and right are both still subservient to corporate powers.
No idea. That said, one could argue 4 years of English isn’t enough either.
Well, that’s fair.
That said, your take is ridiculous. The rules are in place to protect the customer base. It would be terrible business practice to let some customers go wild and alienate other customers.
You do not have any rights on this forum.
I’ll raise you with a quote.
Because anything that doesn’t please the leftist agenda is considered to be “hate”.
They get to say anything and impose everything they want, but we don’t get to say we don’t agree with their views.
This in nutshell. Blizzard is not owned by government, they are free to impose limitation on any posting. It is not illegal or anything, you just have to follow their rule or stop using the forum and look elsewhere. Reddit forum for example do not have language rule, you are free to drop a few “f” words without risk of suspension or ban.
Have you seen America’s general grasp of the language? Yikers.
Unless you go into an academic field, what use is knowing how to write a literary analysis paper? Would that time not be better spent teaching high schoolers how the government works, or computer literacy?
Devil’s advocate here, and actually because I prescribe to this belief… to know how to read them efficiently.
That time is probably better spent on the mentioned topics, but it would be a boon for more people to understand how to go through analysis of all sorts, literary or otherwise.
Oh I don’t disagree. I was being tongue in cheek. It would be a boon for everyone to have to be educated in Civics, but it’s likely by intent. Stupid people are easier to manipulate.
LOL, gaslighting 101.
Censorship Defined:
Censorship is the suppression or prohibition of words, images, or ideas that are considered offensive, obscene, politically unacceptable, or a threat to security (Sources: [Lexico] and [ACLU]. The First Amendment Encyclopedia notes that “censors seek to limit freedom of thought and expression by restricting spoken words, printed matter, symbolic messages, freedom of association, books, art, music, movies, television programs, and internet sites” (Source: [The First Amendment Encyclopedia].
Censorship by the government is unconstitutional. When the government engages in censorship, it goes against the First Amendment rights discussed above. However, there are still examples of government censorship in our history (see the [1873 Comstock Law] and the Supreme Court is often called upon to ensure that First Amendment rights are being protected.
Private individuals and groups still often engage in censorship. As long as government entities are not involved, this type of censorship technically presents no First Amendment implications. Many of us are familiar with the censoring of popular music, movies, and art to exclude words or images that are considered “vulgar” or “obscene.” While many of these forms of censorship are technically legal, private groups like the [National Coalition Against Censorship (NCAC)] and the [American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU)] work to make sure that the right to free speech is honored.
Lol… No one is stopping you. Go right ahead. If it’s not hateful then you should be all good.
I will counter that with a project I remember hearing about where a student sent a bunch of letters to some of the authors they had to read works from in class asking about all of the metaphors/symbolism they were told was there and to analyze in class. Most of the responses they got were the author saying “I didn’t consciously put that there”.
So a lot of high school literary analysis is a lesson in finding things that aren’t there.
If you want to encourage analytic thinking about a written source, contract law would be a more practical class.
You have no right to free speech on a public forum.
There are forums with little to no censorship. It’s no coincidence they’re all toxic cess pools.
Moderation is good. It encourages us to grow up and be civil members of polite society.
And to develop critical thinking skills/free thought and interpretation.
Ye is our lord and savior. Upvote if you agree!
