Honest question, I want to know what other people think about disabling racials in rated PvP. Ideally I’d want them to be cosmetic or fluff only instead of having an impact on gameplay, but that’s more extreme than just disabling them in rated content.
It’s not mandatory by any means, but it’s still way too valuable to be an Orc, Human or Night Elf in the case of Druid/Rogue in PvP, so much so that you are directly playing at a disadvantage if you’re not playing one of these races if your class allows you to.

Bad? No, I think it would fix a few problems.
At what cost though? We are still playing a MMORPG, how u build your character should matter imo

Mechanically, I’d be on board with it as it would allow people to play their favorite race without feeling gimped.
Still, the concept of it is a bit jarring. All of a sudden my night elf forgot how to shadowmeld because it’s in an arena?

I’d be super pissed to lose my racial ability in pvp.
My main is a nelf, and losing my ability to shadowmeld after having it since vanilla would really irk me.
Edit: I don’t care if your race has an advantage in pvp. If I want that advantage, I can reroll that race too. Homogenization sucks.

It would still matter, just not in ways that’d affect your gameplay in a rated game.
Idk what to say about that besides that being a restriction just like how Bloodlust and combat resurrections are restricted in arena.

It’s a fair point, but I think those fall into a wholly separate tier of “would be imbalanced if allowed” to the point where the jarring part of it is outweighed by a necessity for balance.
Well, of course it’d also be great if Blizzard managed to balance everything properly, but I think we are all aware of how that’s proven to be a bit difficult over the years to say the least. I’d be OK if they managed to do it, but wouldn’t be sad over them being disabled as well.

Yeah that pretty much sums up how I feel about it
We’ve got a lot bigger problems than racials tbh.

Hey, that doesn’t mean we can’t talk about them.
Racials shouldn’t be removed, but they should be expanded on for the sake of creating a more diverse MMORPG.
At the end of the day, it is a video game and the rules should be bent just a little bit, but it does not mean that they cannot still have their own sense of unique flavor.
Shadowmeld could be given to Pandas, and named “Smoke Screen.”
Vanish from sight, meld into the shadows, same thing.
Beserking could easily be given to Orcs, Worgen, and Dark Iron without much change.
Warstomp could be easily given to Highmountain, and Draenei and Lightforge could be given “Hoof Stomp.”
In a virtual world, you get to make the rules, there’s nothing that states that racials cannot be expanded on to make it more of an enjoyable experience. =/

Just let people pick their own racials

I actually like this idea.
Getting rid of racials is absolutely stupid, but if people could pick a racial-like ability instead, it’d open up a lot more race choice for players.

Yes, I think it would be a bad thing. It would remove one of the few RPG elements we have left anymore.
I never feel at a disadvantage because of my racial as undead.
Counter point, the only reason I’ve won some games against a sub rogue is cause of my orc racial
Craft a sephuz for mirrors if you haven’t already.

Yea that’s a good idea. Just need more conq to replace my pieces lol
I don’t think racials are as big a deal as people make them out to be. Everyone just hiveminds uhh YouTube said technically orc is the best race I have to play that.
Even tho the vast majority of wow players myself included don’t play at such a level where they have to min max like that
