Wasn’t relevant to an instance per say, and purely anecdotal, but, I have had guild members leave a guild on the spot because they learned another member was trans. (Context, they were being weird and the trans member did not feel comfortable and explained why.)

People in wow will still base their feelings of others players in game off of their own real life ideologies.

My brother in Christ, 09 was also over a decade ago.

Gaming as a whole has changed, and to attribute “self selected convenience” specifically to rdf, as you state in your prior sentence is absurd.

Firstly:

Is a concept as old as Vanilla. It has always been here, just not as big as it is now.

What does this even mean. I see people throw the word around. I know there is a nice Tauren Druid on the forums who explained to me what community means to her, but her definition and mine don’t match. So what does it even mean. Is the backbone of the community based on entry level pve content? Does allowing people to group easier hurt connections? Without RDF, I as a rogue will not attempt to do content without my friends. I actively choose to ignore the community because I have experienced nothing but silence from the community when I would attempt to interact.

With RDF, I wouldn’t mind queueing in and playing. I wouldn’t mind meeting new people. I love watching players learn the game, whether it’s their class, or spec, or just the content itself, and love helping others get better. It’s my favorite way of interaction, parting a decade+ of knowledge on those wanting to grow as players. Without RDF, I won’t be in that content, and thus connections lost.

So what does community actually mean.

Why though? The new LFG tool is functionally no different from the one that has already failed for vanilla / tbc. At its core, its mistake is requiring player proactivity and out-of-game knowledge about its features and functions. Its one difference is sequestering the LFG channel, current preferred alternative, behind listing oneself into the tool.

What do you think the current player base will do? Browse the tool, check custom notes, whisper and patiently engage in conversation while forming group? Or randomly list whatever then spam LFG chat out of lazyness then wait for whispers, same as is now?

I refuse to use this new tool. If my guild can’t help me, I guess I don’t really need it.
