It really sounds like some of the players have completely made up this reality that being social in a 5 man dungeon is absolutely necessary or the game is just absolutely ruined. I really think there’s some underlying mental health issues here, unfortunately.
This entire paragraph just screams “we need RDF” to me. You gave multiple, real life reasons why you’d benefit greatly from it.
I’ll give you my example. I work for a very high end communications company, and my job requires being overly social with clients to keep them happy. I do it all day, its exhausting. The last thing I want to do is get into a dungeon and do the same pointless small talk all over again.
Behavioural encouragement is a thing, and plenty of contexts are out there that incentivize alternate behaviors from people who might otherwise be a jerk.
You cant tell me what this has to do with the discussion so why do I have to walk into your trap? Its irrelevant. All youre doing is proving my point. Like I dont need your help but Ill take if youre gonna make it easy for me.
Also I already answered you already, you just missed it. The bare minimum is already expected of you so yes. But you want to tell me that doing the absolute bare minimum is totally wonderful when other, better options exist. Thats a problem.
Anyway, play games with someone your own speed, youre out of your depth where Im concerned.
I sniffed out this bull weeks ago when people started to say these things. We know that’s not what it’s about. It’s about players terrified of losing their gold making businesses selling dungeon runs. That’s who dungeon finder really hurts: bots and boosters. Elitist gatekeepers.
Because there is no argument about ‘the good of the community’, or promoting social interaction, or accountability. NONE of those things exist in TBCC, even without dungeon finder. It’s all just them throwing darts at a board and seeing what argument sticks. There is no rationale or reason behind it because…it’s already been proven wrong by what’s going in the game right now.
Dance any more and you’ll wear out those ballet shoes. No trap here. I simply asked that if I join your group is ok if I say nothing. All you’ve proved is that you’ll type 100’s of useless words instead of saying yes or no because you feel cornered.
All yer doin is yap, yap, yapping when a Yes or no is all thats needed. Blame me all you want, you’re showing the whole forum that you are the toxic troll poster that you are.
It’s motivation enough to not want RDF so that I don’t ever chance having to be grouped with these toxic posters. A group with them would surely be a toxic cesspool, given their discussion habits.
I’m not going to poke holes in your response, because we both know you’re not going to change your mind. But I will say this
I bring up perception because people seems to think that social = talking. It doesn’t work that way. If people want to feel like that keeping things to the same server to try and keep some small minor form of social fabric, then imo, that’s totally legit. Just like if people want to say that grouping with random strangers is more social, that’s fine too.
I do think it’s hard to dispute that LFD make things less social tho. That being said, with things having such little interaction as it is, would it make a huge difference? Probably not. But surely, you can see why some may want to hold onto it as much as possible.
LFD just makes grouping easier and more convenient. Thats all its designed to do. Its not worried if this guy is a jerk and that dude is outgoing and says funny things in chat to keep people loose.
But this is a much bigger problem than LFD alone. You need things like stable, balanced servers, with communities that take care of their own. Thats so far gone now Im not even sure it every really existed in the first place.
Nah LFD makes it easier to deal with people like you as you can be kicked and replaced much easier. Which greatly diminishes your ability to hold groups hostage.
In original WOTLK, I’d agree 100%. The classic we’ve had so far, I’d have to say the opposite. People are so frustrated by not being able to get in dungeons is actually hindering the social aspect of the game. They’d rather just log out and play something else. RDF in classic would have to have a positive effect on the health and longevity of the game, the players, and each server.
Original WoW had a slow and steady uptick in players until Cataclysm. Classic has seen the opposite. The further we get into each phase, the less and less players are in the game. I can only relate that to the lack of a working dungeon finder and the toxicity and time wasted with trying to get into dungeons. We’ve seen countless posts about it over the last year.
I’d put a weeks pay that if we had RDF, we would not see the massive sub loss as we get into the later phases of WOTLK Classic.
I really think most of the Anti’s are people who’s social lives have been lost and need to have players forced into talking to them. We’re talking about 5-mans here.
You would have no reason to kick me, and you’d be unlikely to get the group vote because I am a very pleasant player in-game in my groups.
There’s really no substantiated evidence to believe that I would be a toxic player in-game.
I only have my cat claws out in this discussion because how regularly vicious, unrelenting, and mean pretty much everyone on the pro-RDF side is for simply taking the opposite perspective.
Exactly this. People (including Classic devs) need to get their heads out of the clouds and react to what’s going on now. That’s what turned around my views on the subject.
Cannot be overstated. Dungeon Finder will have a MASSIVE effect on the long-term health of the game and player retention. I had to educate a few people yesterday because they didn’t realize how good emblem gear is even at the end of the expansion, as it lets you buy tier gear 1 beyond the current tier. Meaning dungeons remain active and relevant the entirety of the expansion. And a tool that makes that content more accessible can only be good.
