[WotLK] Let's talk Dungeon Finder

This seems most sensible but is an interesting moment to say yet again… We lost mage solo instance farming for what again? Several classes can do it now except mage and groups are still impossible for many instances.

oh yeah heroics after phase 1 is a perfectly acceptable compromise to a lot of anti-rdf people myself included. I just dont want it in phase 1. TOC is a perfect time to add it as a catch up when they introduce the 5 man

The current lfg tool we have works perfectly. I see no reason to waste time on something that has only harmed the social aspects of the game. Please let this concept die off intill cataclysm since that’s when Ill be quitting.

I think a good middle ground could honestly be RDF for Vanilla dungeons. Leveling 1-60 won’t be close to end game anymore. I think it would be great to allow a little bit of alt friendly stuff put in while still keeping leveling 60-80 the way the true Classic player base wants it.

Edit: A good compromise is probably the best way to handle the “situation.”

Anyone that isn’t willing to compromise is too stubborn anyways haha. It feels like everyone in the world is so focused on “my way of thinking is right, and yours is just plain wrong.” … Learn to compromise and every aspect of your life will become so much better.

Does random Cross-Realm BGs not harm the “Social aspects of the game”?

I just don’t understand how one cross-realm feature is allowed, but another is not. I think all the alliance on Benediction should be secluded to their own server and play with only Benediction horde in BGs. You know, since we don’t want to harm the social aspects of the game and the community of the server.

Exactly!

MOST of my retail bnet friends are cross-realm, and cross shard. I met them in cross-realm dungeon finder and bg’s. I love playing the game with them everyday. I think it sucks that I STILL cant trade or mail them! (fix that plz). The people who say that RDF ruins the social aspects of the game are making ZERO sense whatsoever. RUINS social aspects? More like BOLSTERS it! And yes, it needs to be cross-realm. MORE people means lower que times, MORE people to meet, and thus a greater chance to meet a friend you really like. It’s a big part of what made Wrath so great. Bring it back where it belongs, in Wrath. Those who don’t like it can go back to Vanilla, where RDF WASN’T!

I MISS MY SOCIALIZATION! BRING BACK RDF!

LFD isnt what ruined the social aspect of the game. LFR is.

Not having the LFD system is also a good way to make dungeons like Dire Maul and countless others irrelevant because nobody will go out of their way to go to them also making it harder to do dungeons at lower levels later on when the majority of players are doing endgame content. Hence the reason the system was implemented in the first place.

Also why should PvP be immune to this logic?

Just give us cross realm group finder 5 mans and let raiding be the social coordinated part of the game. There is nothing wrong with 5 man group finder…

PS: Saying you want to preserve the social aspect of the game while locking a global chat channel to LFG is illogical.

These are the people you’re catering to blizzard. People who have zero confidence in the game being improved.

im in the anti RDF group, i think that it erodes the community to much, that being said i have no problem if its a server only RDF where all the members are on the same server. as then there is still some accountability for peoples actions in the dungeons.

I would be ok with this option, it is better than the 1-60,68,70,normal options.

Personally, I don’t care.

I guess we spend less time trying to find dungeons to level up without doing quests.

I’d say it will kill the community interaction, but the community isn’t the same as it used to be, so…

RDF for 1-70 will be fine.

Oh, this is a good point, not all the servers are crowded…

The only reason i would disagree is if youre on a low pop server or low pop side of a server it wouldnt fix anything.

i would agree with you, it would not help people being on a low pop server. but the issue of low pop servers is a different one then RDF imo

Or, numerous other platforms and games were out. You guys can stop scapegoating every feature you dont like as the downfall of a game that is still going strong here being its in 18th year?

It’s actually embarrassing people are still saying lfd “erodes the community” after classic and TbC. It’s so dishonest.

I feel it removes choice from a majority of players in how they consume content and places it in the hands of toxic gatekeepers much like Mythic+ is in retail. It sends a message to people that unless you dedicate all your time and money to the game, you are not worthy to do Heroic and Raid content unless you find another way to gear up like grinding PvP content.

Without RDF, low-level alt dungeon grinding or any dungeon questing becomes unavailable due to people being unable to find groups thanks to the non-stop Heroic group spam.

  1. Gives players a choice in how to consume content
  2. Takes control/ownership of Heroic endgame content out of the hands of toxic people
  3. Makes gatekeeping harder to do
  4. Allows people to gear alts faster
  5. Allows people to gear for Raids through non-PvP content
  6. Frees up PvP for dedicated PvP players
  7. Gives late-comers to the game a chance to catch up
  8. Removes the mega-server problem and makes faction imbalance irrelevant.
  1. More complaints from the overly vocal toxic community
  2. Continues RDF vs No RDF threads in the forums
  3. Annoying LFG spam channel will still exist
  4. The broken LFG system continues
  5. Disenfranchises people from playing Alts or playing the late expansion
  6. PvP players getting angry that their area is swarmed with non-PvP players looking to gear up because Heroic groups are harder to get into

The hybrid solution exists as Custom Group Finder. CGF allows people to register a group, set conditions for application gives group leaders a chance to inspect people, and can be divided by dungeon requirement.

The issue is that by adding RDF, the CGF doesn’t have a larger pool of players to choose from as players might choose to just do content and work with randoms instead of applying for a group like it’s a job or something.

I agree with all the above, but i feel like blizzard will take all this context and then apply it to raiding.

Dungeons should to give you a taste of working with a group to get through the instance while experiencing the narritive.

Raiding is supposed to be challenging, competitive, and take coordination and communication.

It’s not that we don’t care. We just don’t see the things you see as downsides.

They should made LFD available later for non wrath dungeon, especially the vanila dungeon

Yeah, I hate when people do that. It’s so selfish to make 4 other people wait while you go pvp etc. That only happened to me once in classic but I remembered the person’s name for weeks and refused to invite him to any group I made. Nor would I accept an invitation from him. I never interact with anyone while going to the dungeon because I think it’s rude to make the group wait.
