Love this. Never expected some of the things like the NAXX BUFFS. This is great!
Elaborate?
Removing dungeon finder makes dungeons a much more engaging experience.
1. How do you feel about Dungeon Finder not being added to WotLK Classic?
I think it’s a fantastic idea. Cross-realm dungeon finder was the first step toward server communities and social interactions being ruined and it put this game on a fast track to being overrun by anonymity-fueled toxicity.
2. What do you think are the positives of having Dungeon Finder?
The only positive of dungeon finder is that it was a time-saving QOL feature.
3. What do you think are the negatives of having Dungeon Finder?
See answer to #1.
4. Do you think a hybrid solution could be implemented, whether it be a partial Dungeon Finder or a different solution altogether, and what could that solution be, if you can think of any?
Blizzard is already implementing a hybrid feature - a server-wide dungeon finder. In my opinion, this is a much better system than a cross-realm dungeon finder.
By the same token there are plenty of people “post-ripcord” who have simply decided not to play Wrath, or can’t be bothered to argue the point in forums and will probably quit later. The same “We didn’t say anything before” applies to after, balancing it out. Therefore the “voices are representative of the community” is a perfect example.
You don’t get to make your claim without acknowledging the reverse is true.
Couldn’t agree more dude!!!
with the news of no dungeon finder in wrath and the hope that the new tool being worked on wont be a bust i would like to point out some reasons on why this new tool MUST succeed or the game will continue to be in an unhealthy state.
- healthy chat boards: with all players pooling together on single majority faction servers and all chat being flooded with raid/gdkp/boosting/ticket runs/ dungeon groups etc… the chat boards have become so much of a headache to read that you need to install an extra addon just to filter the never ending chat
- doing away with boosters: it was stated that the dungeon finder would be unhealthy for the community but without it you have 2 choices. slow level with quests or afk in a mage/pally farmed dungeon for quick XP. finding a group of your own level to get together and do a dungeon while leveling is as rare as the world epic drops in game. with a WORKING dungeon tool players will beable to actually experience joy while leveling through content instead of only having the choice of quest only slow leveling or afk no interaction boosting
- doing away with greedy players: time and time again you are stuck spamming this never ending chat looking for tanks and healers that refuse to even step foot in your party without being paid or having special reserves. let players have the ability to match with players instead of people treating their in game role as a paying job to play the same content.
4.dungeon finder had no real impact on social interaction (small one): all dungeon finder did was give you access to a wider group selection and give the ability to lower population servers to group with others still (win win) while trading out the mindless chat spam and travel time to the dungeon… (because clicking the stone was such a group experience -_-)
We ALL know dungeon finder isnt what ruined social interaction in the game. the problem was RAID FINDER that made the idea of farming prebis in a dungeon or heroics redundant when you could just get a small amout of gear and leech higher geared players in a 25 man setting for free loot. OUT WITH THE BOOSTING IN WITH PLAYERS EXPERIENCING CONTENT TOGETHER
They’re not trying to do away with boosters. They’re priming us for “no limit to purchased boosts”, by trimming away the competition.
you wrong roger. the removal of DF takes away from chat spamming an already flooded chat board and 2 players moving to the stone to some the lazy folk. DF introduced a larger flow of players for more groups and gave low pop servers a chance to still play actively. also shuts down the heavy boosting community for low levels giving alt an easier access to dungeon content without trying to find the rare group or paying a mage/pally for a boost while afk with 0 player engagement
im saying having a reliable group tool that works as good if not better than DF did there will be no need for boosters
I honestly think most of the negative reaction to dungeon finder is due to the fact that people EXPECTED the feature to be in the game with Wrath Classic. Maybe currently they are a little burned out searching through Trade/LFG trying to find/form a group, and currently welcome the idea of Dungeon Finder.
Listen people, I know Dungeon Finder may sound nice now, but we all know we want it for that easy, quick dungeon queue to finish our quests/dailies/heroics. It was a great feature and it saved a lot of time, but it really did not preserve the community. I was reading earlier post about people saying about what ‘great experiences’ they had in Dungeon Finder. Most of mine were usually quiet experiences, not bad but mostly quiet.
Wanted Dungeon Finder seems a little selfish to me. If it’s in the game, I’ll obviously use it. It saves so much time, and the ease of it is great. If it’s not, I wouldn’t miss it.
Sure but we’re not getting that. We’re getting the Retail Mythic+ LFG tool. There’s a reason RDF is still in Retail as well.
RDF is used for nearly nothing other than leveling alts. anything under mythic is a joke content and gear wise as i explained in the end of my first statement. when they introduced LFR it made dungeons useless and mythic dungeons only cemented that
And yet, part of the reason we want RDF in Classic is levelling…
with a build your own group system you will continue to see nearly no tanks or healers willing to do the same content unless payed
the big reason is to give leveling players an option to level without spending gold and to fix finding groups without having to buy 2 members of your group
Right. Which is why what we got will fail, and we need RDF.
which is what my initial argument explained. that we NEED RDF and now some bs
- How do you feel about Dungeon Finder not being added to WotLK Classic?
I think it’s a very short-sighted decision that hurts a large portion of the playerbase and fails to solve any substantive problems. It’s extremely unpopular with the community as a whole and should have never been considered in the first place.
- What do you think are the positives of having Dungeon Finder?
Ease of leveling alts, helps eliminate dungeon boosting, helps players on smaller/dead servers to be able to play the game, gives a good way to farm badges and gold without doing mindless grinding, etc.
- What do you think are the negatives of having Dungeon Finder?
None, really. The perceived damage it does to the community isn’t a real problem because this isn’t vanilla classic and the community surrounding the game is not the same as it was back when vanilla/tbc/wrath were new.
- Do you think an hybrid solution could be implemented, whether it be a partial Dungeon Finder or a different solution altogether, and what could that solution be, if you can think of any?
I think the new version of the LFG tool is good, but it shouldn’t replace RDF. They should coexist to make a better system for players to run group content how they want.
This says “I hope our new tool is good”. It won’t be, because it can’t be. Because humans suck, especially in the modern gaming environment.
my intention is to give feedback so that this may be changed back and they rethink the removal. as should a large majority of players unless they want to continue to see flooded chat boards, boost only meta, and greedy players that want large amounts of gold from you just to do the same dungeon
