[WotLK] Let's talk Dungeon Finder

Pretty sure he’s referring to the LFG tool when he’s talking about what should have been in before vanilla.

I think it’s stupid. Plain & simple. But hey, we are getting 70 boosts though yay!

  • Brings social experience to the whole new level
  • Meet new people constantly.
  • Experience dungeons for all expansions throughout leveling.
  • Get to socialize and play the game and not be alone without saying a word 1-70.
  • A lot more people will play alts.
  • WIll focus away from mage boosting and potentially reduce RMT transactions.
  • Everyone can queue and get ported into dungeon without feeling bad for playing class/spec that they like.
  • Wasting time on fly path
  • Not being able to meet new people. Why? Because half the people won’t get invited for not being meta aoe cleave or T6.
  • Solo leveling is THE LEAST social experience one can have in an MMO.
  • New players will not be able to experience dungeons
  • New players will not be able to experience group content and learn what kind of mechanics exist.
  • A lot less people will level alts.

The only other solution is to have retail-like LFG tool - where you can list groups
(Need a second to find reddit post I saw)
Here. This what will happen if retail tool is introduced. Though looks pretty good, the reality will be much much worse. A lot more WTS. A lot more meta comps only.

This is still better than spanning LFG chat channels and dealing with whispers…but still, doesn’t fix the core problem of exclusivity.

Thank you for taking the time to write your post but… I think you misread the third question. :stuck_out_tongue:

I included the question to make it clear he’s talking about the cross-realm dungeon finder, because apparently him saying that several times wasn’t enough.

Um I did indeed. Hang on.

Right he specifically mentions the meeting stones, then the LFG Tool they added in TBC(which we have now in classic and sucks) before ending up with LFD.

Except it specifically says the “LFG tool is something I wanted in from the start”

LFG != LFD

So, I’m also blind apparently.

Here we go.

  1. Players who have more time on their hands can spam more and hence, theoretically, gain an upper hand. Such as spamming RDF HC and get lucky enough to run same dungeon 2-3 times every day for their pre-raid BIS drops.

(Solution to that would be like on private servers - RDF has HC lockout system).

  1. Daily badge bonus, theoretically, will give an upper hand to those who refuse to use RDF and run dungeons directly. But let’s be real here, no1 will do that.
Solution to that would be daily heroic quest givers in dalaran and RDF yield no bonus rewards. But this shouldnt happen imho.

off the top of my head, this is all I got.
Active players have a chance at getting an advantage over those who play very little. Which also seems very fair to me. More time invest = more rewards.

Just my 2 cents.

Funny you think that i have respect for anyone in any type of authority. I don’t care who gave you the authority. If it wasn’t me, then you have to earn my respect. Everyone should feel this way. There have been plenty of dictators that were blindly followed and respected, and it was all undeserved.

The be fair, the anti-RDF crowd have yet to add anything constructive to the subject. Even the pro-RDF people have lost composure that think that compromise is a good medium, and even then, its shot down by the anti-RDF.

What community? If you actually ‘loved’ your community you’d see that RDF is a massive benefit to them and would be rallying for it, even if you personally didn’t want it.

:man_facepalming: :man_facepalming:

But I think your real community isn’t the whole realm, but it’s your guild and the friends you group with, and the cross-server LFG won’t undermine that at all. The Dungeon Finder – by the way, I think we just renamed it the Dungeon Finder last night –

He’s talking about the freaking dungeon finder. Are you trolling?

There really is no “daily badge bonus” it’s just the daily quest rolled into the DF

No, he’s definitely talking about RDF and their iterations of it. It’s why he mentioned cross-realm BG’s and how the community is your guild and friends.

ikr.
I think he talks about boosting and GDKP one. There are no other communities. No one talks in pugs, except for spamming channels with the copy-paste and whispering “inv”.

Yeah, that’s true. I said it because I recall someone saying how daily RDF reward will make them feel “forced” to run it.

I think they are full of crap on that one, but nonetheless, I saw it being stated once or twice. It could be very well true for a handful of individuals who will refuse to use RDF.

Did you play WOTLK? Your first heroic of the day gave you 2 of the current tier badges. Every subsequent RDF run gave you 2 of the previous tier badges, and it was unlimited (until you did all of the heroics in a single day, that is.).

No, i’m not, and that’s a separate thing.

I HIGHLY doubt they were thinking of a random dungeon finding tool before vanilla was even launched. During the development of the LFD tool they were talking about how it awesome it was and how it would change the game.

Much more likely that they wanted an LFG tool in at launch.

I was specifically talking about the “daily” badge thing, it’s just the daily quest from prior rolled into it.

No longer was it go “kill X in heroic Y” it was just the first 7 random dungeons of the week.

Yes, it was the daily heroic quest that we have in TBC currently, rolled into RDF. After you did your first heroic, you could queue RDF again and get the previous tier badges. With no RDF, where will we get those badges?

Nowhere, they don’t need to exist.

They should remove them from RDF if they put it in so people who don’t want to use it don’t have to.

You do know he says Looking For Group Tool and then mentions how they changed the name to the Dungeon Finder just a week before doing the interview.
