My whole big guild is upset that the RDF is being taken out, why do try to push this narrative that no one wants it?
And I’m saying that there is a decent portion of people out there who don’t do dungeons if they have to talk to people, this game is full of introverts who prefer to remain silent.
Your life is the sum of a remainder of an unbalanced equation inherent to the programming of the matrix. You are the eventuality of an anomaly, which despite my sincerest efforts I have been unable to eliminate from what is otherwise a harmony of mathematical precision. While it remains a burden assiduously avoided, it is not unexpected, and thus not beyond a measure of control. Which has led you, inexorably, here.
At some level, there is the ultimate realization that this is a pig pen (an MMORPG), and if you aren’t a pig (someone who likes MMORPGs) then maybe you’re in the wrong pen. I’d be inclined to say that the social interaction “classic” demands is a relatively common attribute of pre-WoW era MMO gameplay.
This is why Ion recommended retail as an option for you.
Of course I love the thought of the game being as friendly to as many diverse preferences as thinkable (it already kinda was designed that way originally and was always considered to be inviting or more casual friendly as an MMO even prior to WOTLK).
It’s not that I like seeing players turning away because it’s “not for them” or whatever the case, but at some level the game shouldn’t be completely disfigured away from it’s genre or main fixtures just to please you.
except the game is actually being disfigured from its natural state already, before LK even drops its been disfigured away from the base template.
People who don’t want the road to retail don’t understand that every bit of classic wow led us to retail. Taking away expack features that were generally and reasonable expected to be in a rerelease of one of the most widely loved expansions should be met with upset players and should be referred to as a disfigurement of the game.
So basically, what you are saying is that if the playerbase were given an alternative to your preferred method of group forming that it would be so popular that there wouldn’t be enough players left for your method to be viable any more? Isn’t this admitting that the new alternative is a better option for the majority of players? That you are in the minority but still trying to ensure everyone else has to play your way?
That’s a pretty anti-social attitude towards all the other players of the game. You don’t even try to feign confidence in your preference as “a good option” as you know it wouldn’t survive having any competition.
TBCC and WOTLKC are being developed under the pretense that #somechanges are to be expected.
I don’t feel that removing DF makes the game not-an-MMORPG. I also don’t feel like removing DF makes WOTLKC “not Wrath”.
It definitely will change the feel of the game in the final patch comparatively, but we were to expect #somechanges, so it’s best to be mentally prepared for certain aspects of the game that were obviously going to be on the chopping block.
Classic “it’s popular so it must be good” argument.
McDonalds is popular for pretty much the same reason. It has a drive through, so it’s convenient it’s a short waiting time (“hence fast food”) and it’s generally tasty.
Does that mean it’s good food?
DF is convenient, funnels a lot of people in to itself, and people generally describe it as useful.
It definitely won’t feel quite as much like wrath.
Nothing was ever “obviously going to be on the chopping block” until they decided to start gutting the game.
What’s next? Only other change i’d stick around for is the 4 lockout thing for ToC, any more and I’m back to pservers honestly, because then you are starting to gut what makes wrath.
They literally gave alliance seal of blood and changed feral energy mechanics to work like a completely different expansion in TBCC, pretty sure if you’ve been paying attention, not much was really off-the-table.
It completely changed the entire equation of viability (for feral DPS) and the way in which the entire spec plays in every single facet of the expansion.
Alliance Paladins might disagree with you as well.
Do you think the ret paladin change didn’t have people against it? The faction unique-ness argument was plenty abound.
Very few, I was around when the announcement was made.
And I’d gladly give it all back for #nochanges in wrath. Only change they’re making in wrath that is player positive is the ToC change, kind of, because if you LIKED doing it 4 times a week that is being taken away from you.
I do not agree with the statement that removing RDF for design concerns impacts gameplay as heavily as major class changes for people who play those classes.
