WOTLK Classic - Dungeon Finder Removed

The leveling experience on classic is just boring on all but a handful of servers. You’ll never find people to do a dungeon with. Even on the bigger servers you’ll never find somebody willing to fo out of their way to do, say, Uldaman, considering it’s location.

I’m terribly dissapointed by this announcement.

I hope no one reads this and believes you. It’s utterly wrong and on the verge of edge cases and bad battlegroups from the 3.3.0 system. Even during the worst periods of the day on medium to low pop battlegroups, you’d still find people. They purposefully paired higher pop servers within all battlegroups to avoid that issue.

CRZ is irrelevant to LFD, and level scaling only recently happened, and DID help shave off about 4 - 6 minutes per queue for DPS. Healers and tanks still get instant queues or like, 1 - 2 minutes at worst.

I think I speak for everyone: 10 minute queues > Sitting in cities or using the archaic LFD tool to find a group for 30 - 60+ minutes depending on your luck, class, gear, and time of day. Yowch.

PS: I know not everyone agrees, hence people playing Classic, but this pertains to WotLK and onward. And yes, I know the modern LFD tool didn’t exist until 3.3.0

Oh, so I’m lying about hour long DPS ques? Right…

Actually, it shaved off quite a bit. The lower level dungeons, like super low level dungeons were easy to get groups for. Later dungeons (especially MoP areas) would take FOREVER for dungeon ques to pop up. Those ques would take up to an hour, as a solo DPS. Hence, why there’s no guarantee that you’ll even get a dungeon nor do everything 'cause people do like to skip stuff.

EDIT: With Chromie time, people prefer LFDing Vanilla dungeons and nothing else. DPS ques for those dungeons are quick even as DPS.

Don’t even bother leveling a non meta class, you aren’t getting a run if you don’t have friends to run with or you aren’t the tank.

You just aren’t.

I tanked all the way through Wrath and i’m telling you from experience, if you are not a preferred spec, without LFD, you are never going to see the inside of Heroic dungeons, much less raids.

Be prepared to meet me on the bank steps and be inspected and told straight to your face your gems suck, you are missing enchants, and you still have quest greens.

Welcome to pre LFD, it’ll be your classic Wrath home now.

You will be at the whim of your tank, they will form the run, dictate the pace, and if you run ahead and pull, or act up, they will Blacklist you, and your wait times will get even longer.

I used to keep a literal list of names on a piece of paper right beside my computer of people who I would NEVER run with again while tanking.

I did this because when you have to manually take the time to set up a group, inspect the members of that group, travel to the dungeon, wait for little Billy to finish his dinner or go potty etc, if we get in there and you cause problems, you ain’t coming back.

I’m not saying this to be nasty, I loved LFG, still do, but this is to remind some of you that grouping was not sunshine and rainbows before LFG, it sucked.

If you’re talking about only end game stuff, sure the ques aren’t that long. Leveling through LFD IS long, though and level scaling helped alleviate that, along with Chromie Timing in the right timeline where most of the leveling traffic is leveling in. And, CRZ is relevant 'cause even back in Wrath, LFD was still to just your server.

Good news!!! you can still get that classic new game feel in…wait for it…CLASSIC!!!
but you cant get that wotlk feel because they are gimping it to please a small segment. who dont even know what they are going on about.

Am I the only who remembers the Wrath LFD wasn’t around at the start of the expac? And, that when it did happen, it was to your server only? I don’t think it expanded cross-realmed within your battlegroup until the end or something. Like close to Cata :woman_shrugging:

Standing around Dal trying to fill a team for hours is not normally playing the game.

It’s not really the true Wrath experience without it. I think they’re making a huge mistake for people who want an authentic nostalgia trip.

Wasn’t added until late in the expansion when it was current, if remembering correctly. Maybe it will be added in a later phase

no lfd just cost blizzard my boost money ill spend it elsewhere.

“I’ll be with random people I’ll never see again” “Eroding the social fabric” Okay, then how about we make it server specific? None of you people cheering for this have legit levelled any of your alts, you paid a mage to boost you through dungeons and you know you did because that’s all you see in LFG and world chat. Mage boosters and bots selling dungeon runs. That’s not a social experience that’s a tumor to the game that keeps festering. LFD fixes that problem, let’s people new and old level alts in a much better way, and server specific means you will see those people again.

Theyre a little out of touch which players on that one

No longer interested. I barely had the time to form my groups manually back then, except for on Saturdays.

Now, I simply do not have the time to waste sitting in Dalaran, manually forming groups.

Sorry Blizz, hard pass on this.

and started the erosion of server community we have today

Nah I blame twitter for that… Or frogs, I feel they don’t get blamed enough.

That ease of access brought more people to the game. When that was added the community clocked it’s highest numbers, which would mean that this feature was welcomed.

This goes against the current game development philosophy.

If you had been paying attention you would recognize that they have made lots of changes to classic/tbc content to align it to current development philosophy.

Current development philosophy is that players should never feel rewarded for playing. They want to break that link. And definitely they don’t want anyone to be able to earn currency in a fixed number of play sessions and be able to run to a vendor to buy the piece of gear of their choice.

This is a decision that has doomed wrath classic, just like the money grab for character clone from classic to tbc lost them so many players who had already reevaluated their choices and decided not to play at all before the price was cut. Or was it the boost/mount bundle that was the death knell?

They need to stop counting on bringing back players by changing some horrible decision after it’s too late, because they don’t come back.

You dont remember correctly then, they never took a hour. Rofl.

What the heck? You must be thinking about some other game. Back in wod and Legion when I spammed dungeons queues were always fast. Level scaling of dungeons only affects levelers and didn’t happen until mid-Legion.

You are very confused.

No, that is the one thing I do remember. I remember waiting an hour, as a DPS, in LFD.

That makes me still correct because leveling up through LFD does take a long time and awhile.

No, IK I’ve had long waits, before. Nobody specified what part of LFD we were talking about. There have been times, where I’ve waited a very long time, for a dungeon pop-up, even in the end game.

EDIT: Y’all are acting like LFD is some “time saving” perk when it’s not. There have been times where the ques did take awhile and weren’t always instant nor quick.
