It’s not just training and using the AH that is bugged. Because UC and Org are phased, people can’t use the zeppelins or even do Brewfest outside of Org.
Blizz needs to fix ASAP.

HERE IS HOW TO NOT BUG OUT THE EVENT (until Blizz fixes):
- Once you reach the Royal Quarters, go stand in the middle where Vari spawns. Thrall triggers the event, there are 5 purple portals that spawn around the room. Adds and Pit Lords will come out of each.
- Everyone has to keep the Pit Lords alive. Over time as the event progresses, the portals close one by one but, it seems to bug out when each Pit Lords that comes out of the portals are killed.
- Once all of the portals are closed, Vari finally becomes attackable.
Unfortunately you kinda have to tell everyone around you what to do otherwise people will just nuke the Pit Lords down and bug the event. Super annoying, but it DOES work. Just did it this morning finally.
How is it the quest was never messed up in OG, but now it’s literally game breaking. You’ve got players literally STUCK in Org/UC without being able to complete, zeppelin and UC portal have disappeared in Org due to phasing, and if your hearth isn’t in Northrend? You’re literally trapped.
The only way to unstick your character is to get into a dungeon group and have them summon you??? This is absolutely unacceptable, blue post ASAP.
And if Thrall never shows up outside UC to even begin the event??? It’s entirely bugged.
Also having this issue. I don’t even have the quest in my log, and both Org and UC are phased with nothing to do and/or click on. Thunderbluff still works, so you can get around not being able to use the AH or train your skills by going there.
Blizz, hello? Lots of people getting screwed by this.
My understanding is that if he’s not outside UC, the event has already begun. Go down into UC and wait for him near the Royal Quarters.
Adding to this, Varian is also bugged on the alliance side. He will run in, freeze when you get to the end of the sewers and then just disappear with the status update “The alliance has secured undercity”
I just submitted a bug report as well.
Sunk 2 hours into trying to figure out how to get unstuck from Battle for the Undercity (Horde side) during the wee AM hours last night and NOT doing anything to progress my character or the story.
Between 6 hour queues, an AH so laggy that it’s sometimes unusable, being stuck in Battle for UC, and being effectively locked out of Org and Brewfest, I feel like I’m paying a sub to spend more time waiting to play the game than actually playing it. I’m typically not one for jumping on the “lol tiny indy company” bandwagon but this is really getting ridiculous. WTF am I paying y’all for?

I have a feeling that it was made for a decent amount of people to do and complete the quest but since everyone is dungeon leveling not many players are doing the questline and that was the catalyst that caused the npcs to keep resetting and doing their thing w/o much player interaction.
Still broken.

Any update on this? Character is still stuck in some weird Phase. Can’t go to ORG or UC without getting screwed.

Has Blizzard commented on this yet? Getting to be beyond a joke. This is such a major bug that can completely ruin the leveling experience.
Have an issue with the same quest, but King Varian stop in Putress’ chamber and the mods keep spawning with the “boss” downed. The King moved forward toward Thrall, but then reset back to the chamber and is stuck there with the mobs. Very frustrating.
How had Blizzard not fixed this yet if someone reported it a day ago…

The quest basically disables Orgrimmar. Fix this nonsense.
I, too, have this bug. HOWEVER!! The Zep there in UC will STILL take you to Howling Fjord. So, to those that do not have a hearth set to anything in Wrath/Have summons/dont wanna pay for summons… TAKE THE ZEP BACK!
Still annoying that Org/UC is phased, but at least you can still quest
