Seriously, there are, like, 50+ hairstyles and none of them are ugly.

I’d also argue that Au Ra, Elezen, Hyur, and Miqo’te males are all far more slim and agile than beefcake male power fantasy ish. The corresponding females are all adorable anime waifus but I also knew what I was getting into with FFXIV, and I love my cute cat lady.

I do kind of appreciate FF’s customization in that its max busty options appear to be rather understated compared to either its own anime inspirations or video games in general. Your female character is still unavoidably a moe waifu but she’s not gonna develop lower back trauma.

My midlander dude is svelte next to the male blood elf model and no one has hurled the f-slur at me yet, so “kawaii uguu waifu bait” Final Fantasy definitely wins out over WoW in that department.

I was bracing myself for an angry tirade the first time I wiped on Titan, but was instead pleasantly surprised when the tank said something to the effect of “don’t worry guys, we can do this!”

I’m sure angry tirades still happen, but after 100+ or so hours I haven’t seen any.

I’ve seen a few snippy comments and some very… Interesting attitudes on the novice network.

But all in all it’s definitely lacking the sort of longstanding, elitist, aggressive atmosphere.
