Wot in an Oppressed Nation

Oh, sweet, I get a disengage move at 15. That’ll help my mobility issues a lot.

I do like how you learn new abilities through quests rather than automatically or from trainers. That is a nice touch of immersion. I enjoyed how crafting recipes in Legion were done that way, too.

Meanwhile sometimes I visit general/story forums and I’m reminded how mind bogglingly stupid this faction war is, and how infuriating it is that Blizzard seems happy that they’ve divided the playerbase like this.

Meanwhile if you wanna see a faction war where no side is portrayed morally superior to any other side than ESO is a great place to go. Seriously play any of the 3 alliance stories and you will see the other alliances doing some heinous &@^$.

Its amazing how well a MMO setting and story can be when you let the people who write actually write.

“Now, I don’t like to get into politics, but the Dominion has got to be stopped, and the Exiles, whoo, they’re even worse!” - Cabbie, WildStar

As much as Carbine did terribly wrong they did a lot super right. God, I miss that game.

You’ll auto-learn a lot of your “basic” abilities and your special, gameplay-changing abilities (on paper at least) will come from quests.

As a bard, for example, you’ll get your basic attacks as an archer and then get your songs (or some of them) from your bard mentor.

What time is the best to try and get in Mateus? Currently locked.

It’s seriously like 2-4am from my experience. Once you’re in, you’re in, but until then…

I’ll probably going to xfer my potato to Mateus because I truthfully have no love for Balmung

Welp I’ll hold off on creating a bard until late tonight I guess.

I managed to get into ESO after letting it download all night then, on a whim, purchasing Summerset Isles. I’m glad I did - it fixed one of the earliest problems I always had, the immersion thing of having a giant claymore as a tiny person. It gave me an opportunity to get every major weapon except a ranged one, which is fine.

It’s very pretty, too, and surprisingly I haven’t found any reason to really not enjoy it yet. Even if I accidently turned my resolution down and couldn’t figure out why my game looked like trash. Woops.

–> As a perk, the login system is reasonable and makes sense - and it didn’t stop me from trying to make a character because the server is full or something.

I got on Mateus around 11:00 PM on a… Friday, I think? So it’s possible to get on sooner, you just have to keep an eye out.

I chose the lancer class because Kain is lowkey one of my favorite FF characters and Dragoons are pretty awesome yo.

The big issue with lancer/dragoon is that you are animation locked for a lot of your diving dragoon attacks, so if you use one and then a boss uses an AoE…

Black mages have the “healers adjust” joke. Dragoons have the “face down on the floor” joke.

The character designs and animations all seem pretty stiff after WoW and Wildstar, but it’s not as bad as SWTOR. Pretty sure I can get used to it.

What level do I unlock glamor? The starting outfit was pretty in a K-Pop kinda way but I’ve been dressed like a homeless stripper ever since.

15 is the level you can do it, but you have to get to Thanalan I think, which is in the desert region.

Here is a great resource to know when you can find unlocks for dungeons and various things

If you’re using that site, then

is obviously the one you want. The person is hanging around right outside the place you go to deal with the Scions, so!

This is now a FFXIV thread.

Better than talking about the dreary topic this originally was

look up a guide for glamors if you can, and maybe ask more experienced players about it because WOW is it complicated, but the benefit is that you can transmog 10 different sets of armor onto your original outfit if your Job can wear it

also crafters make the resources needed to transmog but they’re pretty cheap if you’re not like me and actually do content regularly or sell things you craft

also the most entertaining Scion will probably be Y’shtola
