Druid… The only thing I like to do with Druid is healing. I hate both feral and balance so questing sooooooooo boring for me.
and doing the same dungeons over and over again get way too boring to continue. Anytime I try to quest on a Druid it makes me fall asleep.
My top 5 are these:
Shaman
Mage
DK
Hunter/Warlock
Paladin/Priest/Balance Druid (I won’t level as anything else on Druid)
Warrior, Rogue, DH and Monk (in that order) are at the bottom.
Reason I grouped the other ones is because I feel I have “as much” fun on those classes as the others in the same group.
ehh… i dunno. not knocking your opinion or priests in-general, but… i definitely don’t find disc fun when out and about. i mean, swp, self-bubble, and then spamming the CRAP outta smite while waiting for penance to get off cd… not my cup of tea. rather be able to do more than mash a single attack 60-90% of a fight, y’know?
I don’t know if it says more about me or the class but rogues are one of the only classes I’ve never leveled to max. I used to give up leveling around outlands before the squish and I don’t think I even made it that far with one.
Assassinations theme with the poisons seems cool, and then a I play one and get to listen to “not enough energy”. Couple that with combo points and it’s a hard pass.
I level mages Arcane to 30 and then whatever spec I want to play after that
Low-level Arcane is busted!
And if you’re ever having trouble leveling, make sure to upgrade some low pieces on the AH every once in a while! A few gold can get you big upgrades that can help your characters get stronger
Sub and Combat are both pretty awful right now. You spend most or your time smashing one button waiting for energy so you can eventually have enough combo points to cast slice and dice. Nothing else you do really helps your damage all that much until you get enough energy regen to actually use other finishers which doesn’t happen until your around level 40.
I don’t see how slowing down some classes and breaking up a spell in to 3 split ranks helps newer players learn there class and prepare for end game. Even in the new opening zone the game never tells you “Hey look though your spell book and read your spells so you know what they do!” Giving a player a watered down version of a spell has a chance to generate a miss understanding of the spells use once it has all its ranks. The other problem is for a number of specs within the bracket of 10 levels your go from 5k an hour to 2591828k and hour the pacing is all off compared to the slightly revamp they did for a number of classes in BFA that were awful to level.
As I said above I also don’t understand how spell ranks help teach players how to play. When you level up you get a quick flash if you get a new spell, passive or rank up. If it is a rank up there is nothing that actually tells you what said rank up did UNLESS you read your spell book in advance. If live had some kind of system to better present new abilities to first time/ novice players then maybe the gap between novice and veteran would be that much smaller. Something along the lines of class trainers for new players would help level out the learning curve. Blizzard spend a ton of time on that new zone and while it is an improvement they still need to do a lot more to better have the game teach players how to play and be effective.
Rather then just making raid bosses that quite literally show you big arrows pointing out where to stand they should move the handholding to an environment that is meant for learning.
Sorry I went on a bit of a rant there I just think SL did far more to make the leveling experience better for veteran players who just want to reach max and really borked the experience for newer players.
This was very difficult for me as well. BfA was the first time I was able to get all 12 classes to max before the next xpac.
I had to log into my priest because this sounded off to me…
This isn’t the rotation I do on Disc.
I use Purge The Wicked which replaces SW:P and I take Schism in the first row. The rotation does include more Smite, but as works in Purge, Schism, and PW: Solace (another talent) in addition to waiting for the CD on Penance.
Granted, you don’t get Purge until 45, but Schism is at 15 and Solace is at 30 so those are decently early enough in the leveling process.
I actually started leveling the very first time I rolled a Priest as Disc and I loved it once I figured out what I was doing.
same, but i forgot the name of purge, so… just called it what i remembered. also, i tend not to take schism, unless i’m doin lfr (cooldown’s a bit too long for regular questing imo) i usually take the one that gives me an extra shot of penance.
Yeah I set mine up for raiding but it works well enough in general. Schism seems to be the “go to” for raiding Disc Priests.
Feral druid. Boring, energy system sucks and is limiting, low DPS, bad healing, things take forever to die…ect.
I’m not too sure right now since Shadowlands changed some things but I would hate to level an enhancement shaman now since it is now slower and a hybrid caster/melee which it shouldn’t be. Miss the fast instant casting melee version from BFA tbh.
it was a bit of a pain leveling up this character 12 years ago, back then the water elemental was only a temporary summon, and i really made use of conjured foods between pulls.
hey man, enhancement usde to be caster/melee back in WoD, and it was great back then!.. mind you, it had magma-totem and could lava-lash flame-shock into enemies behind their main-target, before going-nuts with stormstrikes so… i definitely agree on their crappy speed now…
they used to be so top-heavy with abilities back then, it was a blast.
While I agree that levelling a mage can be difficult, frost mage is fun and feels rewarding to do when done properly.
I find Priest to be the most difficult to level. During the Legion class campaign it was rough sometimes for me.
from my own experience probably mage. like you said the scaling sucks and is terrible for frost and fire so your only option at the lower levels is arcane if you want to do well. if you want to just enjoy the game your way then all 3 work.
i find shaman easy to level tbh at least resto and ele i never tried leveling as enhancement. its not the fastest but it’s not as boring as say a fire mage/frost mage which ive done both of from level 1.
overall though i find leveling in this game extremely boring. i feel like they purposely made it the way it is just to try and push out more boosts via cash shop. i mean it’s not slow its just boring… the scaling in the open world is so off too some mobs hit like a F’ing truck while others hit like a noodle and these are just regular mobs and depending what class you play it is easier/harder.
For me it’s Rogues. Outlaw used to be fun before they got rid of their AOE and nerfed the multi-target thingo from on/off to a 5 second CD, and energy regen is awful until you get some talents. TBH, I’ve never bothered with any of the other specs though.
Some of my favs are probably Shadow Priest, Frost Mage, Demo 'Lock, and Fury Warrior.
It’s more personal preference but enhancement should be a quick ability class and not one that has any casting skills that are not instant. They’ve had issues with survivability in the past and so can’t afford to stand still especially being a melee class. Plus, the fast paced version is insanely fun while the slow version is beyond boring. I just let my enhancement rot during Shadowlands.
I like the BFA version because we had weaving with rockbiter and stormstrike procs but we don’t have that with the Shadowlands version. They removed rockbiter and stormstrike does not even proc half the time it was doing in BFA. Lightning bolt, which I’m guessing is suppose to be our weaving spell, takes 2+ seconds of stationary casting which feels really wrong. They should’ve made lightning bolt instant cast without needing a proc at the very least.
The weird thing is that I have twice the abilities to use or more in my rotation now then I did in BFA but I also stand around at least a good 2 seconds in between that rotation and watch auto attacks. It feels really bad. Really bad. In BFA I can’t remember standing around longer then maybe a half second before I was using abilities again.
Another example of Blizz removing a fun class build/playstyle for a more boring one. That’s the main reason I am stepping away. I can’t keep supporting this game until they fix the boring, broken classes especially enhancement shaman.
I'd like to see these as baseline/core abilities for enhancement shaman
- All skills instant cast. No non-instant casting spells whatsoever.
- Hailstorm a core passive instead of a talent.
- Windfury totem auto drops in combat whenever maelstrom weapon hits five stacks
- Maelstrom weapon increasing damage of all abilities by X% with each stack. Each stack last 5 seconds, can stack up to 5 times and you acquire a stack with each ability used. Remove “reduces casting time” since enhancement shaman is instant cast only.
- Hitting an enemy affected by flame shock with lava lash spreads flameshock to up to 4 -5 other enemies.
To each their own.
Monk. Well until I dropped Brewmaster and picked up Mistweaving. After that had tons of fun leveling her.
Rogue early levels is also a pain due to energy regen and the lack of it.
isnt leveling as Frost like #1 mage rule.
For me it’s got to be Mage or Priest. I know Mage you are supposed to slow and kite but ugh I hate that playstyle. I just want to charge and smash not constantly be running away like a little /5char
