World of Warcraft needs to be Darker

riiiiiight, there it is

It’s still guesswork, granted I believe its around the 60% ish but either way it’s sizeable chunk

Yes maybe correct, which would imply it’s somewhat less. So we’ll say a 60-70% drop, at least.

It has to be estimated, Blizzard stopping releasing numbers (around WoD, I think), because they were embarrassed by the drops. Estimating things is nothing new, and superior to doing nothing.

I don’t see how making the game darker is going to reverse the downward trend.

Because the current storytelling is lame. And people don’t want to be associated with lame things. They want to be associated with cool things. Happy to help with these basic facts about human nature.

This is fantasy. There is enough BS around in IRL. I’m fine with their current direction.

And therefore not a fact or provable in anyway.

Yeah but not for the reason you’re thinking, they had the abosulte biggest purge of botted/stolen accounts in WoD in the leadup to the token, was like 1/3 or 1/4 of the subs.

The shareholders didn’t like knowing that that many subs were artificial and volatile.

Dark doesn’t equate to cool, though. The storytelling being lighter isn’t what makes it lame. What makes it lame is a writing team that isn’t that good. A darker story would still be lame under the current writers.

You can always turn down your monitor’s brightness.

That would make it harder to see the forums too. So it’s a win for everyone.

“Darker” doesn’t mean faction war necessarily. The rest of Legion was pretty “dark” and had nothing to do with a faction war. It was great.

Yeah. I think we should all know that by now with SL.

I agree, but in a game called WARCRAFT it should probably be a bit dark or gritty, as it always was. Because that’s what the core audience likes, not power rangers-style cinematics.

WoW always had super CHEESY and goofy moments. The problem is the current team of writers doesn’t know how to do that well, either. So it’s just lame all around.

Yes but these were easter eggs or comic relief in a generally gritty setting. Now they are the main theme.

WoW has always been both. You guys are too easily influenced by streamers.

Won’t disagree there. But if the current team can’t even get that right, there’s pretty much no hope they can get the more serious moments right, either. Hoping they replaced some of the writers when Metzen came back.

Well, it was never any good from the start

Remember the mechanical chicken in the desert?

The feral teddy bears?

Gnomes?

Pepperidge Farm remembers.
