What is the model of your MSI motherboard?

I am seeing some bios from October, but they are asking for specific motherboards to find.

And I’m not seeing them having listed a specific motherboard.

See, I very rarely update BIOS unless something is wrong so I wasn’t expecting it! I’m of the old school “don’t fix what ain’t broken” mindset.

I had no issues with my PC and didn’t know anything was up with Intel chipsets, honestly, so I never would have updated if not for this notice.

…I mean, it was worth it if it prevents my PC from slow roasting itself to an early grave, so…

Did we not have the crashing issues around the time panda remix was released?

I updated bios and WoW didn’t give me the error msg but now my ram is only reading 1 of 4 slots and reading only 16gb instead of 32gb…can someone help me idk anything about bios settings…it’s an MSI motherboard.

thx

Make sure it’s a clean USB before moving the file, don’t leave anything extra, and you should be fine.

Flashing your BIOS can (and should be, a bit) scary, but just don’t rush it.

As an example Asus you have to download the bios update to a USB including a rename file and the actual bios update click the renamer to rename the file correctly. Do this in windows then restart system to get to bios and you’ll be able to update. Plenty of how to videos on YouTube that give step by step instructions for all manufacturers how to update bios. University of youtube is best for anyone wanting to know how to do stuff.

im completely computer illiterate, updating the bios sounds terrifying, im not even sure i want to do it.

it’s really not. the majority of the time you can do it in windows and update it just like installing any old program. some of them are a little bit more involved than that, but not usually too much.

do you know what motherboard you have.

asus i think, thats whats on the warning window

Thank you for this breakdown. You’re right about the “Automatic” not showing the most recent updates.

I’ve looked that up as well and they do not list a BIOS level that matches what I have installed. Hopefully it won’t take them long to respond to my ticket on Monday.

This only applies to the i9 processors apparently, not i5 or i7’s

I can’t post the Intel link here but do a web search for " Intel Core 13th and 14th Gen Desktop Instability Root Cause Update"

I’ve just updated my 13th gen/BIOs and still get the error message. Not sure why… odd.

I made that harder than it needed to be.

Got there in the end.

Has anyone else experienced the game freezing after tabbing out and back in mostly AFTER the BIOS update?

Also the usb drive needs to be fat32 file format.
