Yeah, I got this message as well. My drivers and BIOS is fine. This is a Blizzard issue. Not your PC
No, these problems were acknowledged by Intel. This new message is a warning to let you know that irreparable harm can happen to your components without vital updates for the CPU. If yours is saying itâs up-to-date but youâre seeing the error popup, then you are awaiting another update from the motherboard manufacturer. Some manufacturers are behind on releasing the required BIOS update
If you choose to ignore it, thatâs on you, but I donât think the error message will stop until you address it.
Flashed BIOS, tested, done.
Misinformation. Not updating will most certainly not induce irreparable harm to your components. This will only affect software. However, if your system has been working or is currently working fine, there is no need to update your BIOS. All board manufacturers even tell you this.
Also, for those who do choose to update their BIOS but do not know their board brand or model number and are on Windows, just open Terminal or Powershell and input the following:
wmic baseboard get product,Manufacturer,version,serialnumber
If you decide to update your BIOS (read manufacturer instructions), unzip and copy the BIOS bin file to a flash drive formatted in FAT32, not NTFS. If you do not know the keypress to get into BIOS for the upgrade, follow these instructions:
- Click Start > Power
- Hold the SHIFT key and Click Restart
- Wait until the advanced options show
- Click Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > UEFI Firmware Settings
- Click Restart
Your computer will boot into BIOS. Ensure the flash drive with your BIOS update is inserted in a USB slot.
As a warning, NEVER update using a BETA version of a BIOS. You CAN risk bricking your motherboard unless your board offers current bios backup &/or secondary BIOS.
Iâve been an IT technician for over 35 years and own 3 IT companies.
Same problem here. I am using a corsair prebuilt that has the 0x129 update but they havenât released another. When I contact them they tell me that they use a custom bios that prevents the issue. Now I just have to click okay every time this thing pops up.
As someone else already stated above the issues only affects certain models. The mostly affected ones regardless of suffix based on that Intel post are the i9s, then some i3s or i5s with the K suffix.
I have a i7-13700F, so based on that I should be in the clear no?
I have an MSI Aegis desktop that I got from Costco. The MB inside uses a special bios modified by MSI for these desktops: AMI 1D7. I checked on the MSI website, and I already have the latest BIOS installed from 3.24.23. If I go to the MSI MB page, the standalone MBs have a different version of BIOS installed. To be safe I did open a ticket to ask about it just to be safe. That being said, Iâve never had issue with my CPU since I purchased the PC, and I can use whichever apps or WoW just fine.
I do think that Blizzard need to be more specific in their pop up message, because they just freaked an entire group of people with these CPUs. Maybe they should tailor the warning message based on the Intel notes, since this clearly doesnât affect all models of the 13th & 14th generation CPUs.
From my manufacturer support:
We have sent the request to the team to see if we are able to publish the BIOS updates for prebuilts to get rid of these pop ups. Please allow sometime for the team to be able to test and release the BIOS update.
Sooo I just have to deal with the pop up for a while, annoying. I wish Blizz would add a âDonât show me this againâ option; thereâs literally nothing I can do right now.
Yeah just did this for my asus strix mobo and a 13700KF cpu, my last bios update was on Jan 2024 and there was one from dec 2024 and it was massive, lot of stuff changed up in bios, just hope intel isnt lowering performance of our chips in exchange of stability.
Blizzard warning message was gone after updating the bios btw.
I believe, if you get the message then you are affected, for example, my other PC (10700k) didnt get any warning msg.
No. All i7s, i9s, and K unlocked i5s of 13th/14th gen desktop processors are impacted. Your cpu is impacted.
Edit: might be all 13th/14th gen desktop processors.
Iâm in the exact same situation as you with my Aegis desktop. I have a ticket open to MSI support asking if the updated BIOS is needed and if so which one since they do not appear to have one available for the IZ1 version.
Personally I think Blizzard has no business issuing the warning unless the game software exacerbates the issue. In that case they need to give us a full explanation of why WoW requires the updated BIOS.
Honestly MSI has had time since the September fix issued by Intel to update the BIOS of their systems, yet I canât even find an announcement from their company regarding this.
Nothing on their page, or the forums, or socials. Itâs like the issue doesnât even exist. Their live online assistant is useless & on X they take forever to respond. WTF runs this company? Hopefully theyâll respond to my ticket this week. Meanwhile we all gotta become IT professionals to figure out how to fix this mess.
It is ALL of them. Even a 13100 or 14100 can be affected. Itâs just not as commonly seen because it takes longer on the lower end versions to cause the damage vs the chonky ones that guzzle up 200+ watts.
The non-K versions stay stable longer though because most BIOSs wonât automatically enable/disable certain features that can cause the degredation to occur faster.
There are BIOS updates for my motherboard that contain the change but the numbers are not an exact match. I did find some MSI community posts referencing the same BIOS I have but they are all a dead end with a response saying to contact the manufacturer of the PC. Youâd think with the manufacturer of the PC and motherboard being the same they would know what BIOS levels they have out there.
Even more befuddling is the BD3 would be a beta release based on MSI using aa0 for final release identification. Youâd think a manufacturer wouldnât release products using beta code.
This is the response I just got from MSI support regarding this issue:
" Hello
Please be aware that this is only a message that Activision sends out and not indicative your system is having issues. Our HQ team is aware of the message but there is no newer BIOS update to provide as pre built systems use a custom BIOS and not the retail version for the motherboard.
Regards
MSI Support"
Basically we canât help you deal with it. WTF?? What a horrible company.
I just received the same non-answer response. Iâve pushed back requesting a definitive it isnât a problem with my system or if it is a problem what MSI intends to do about it. However as I said in a previous post Iâm not optimistic about the outcome.
I suppose this is their go to response for everyone with pre built pcâs made by MSI. What a disgrace of a company.

This is not correct. This problem physically damages your cpu.
Well, I ignored message few times then decided to update the BIOS.
Since the update, WOW has started to crash when played into 20 - 30 minutes. For last 2 times, it ends up resetting the system, no blue screen, just reset.
My setup is i9-13900K with Asus ROG Maximus z790 Hero, no overclocking all default values.
I agree with the poster above that Blizzard has no business in issuing the warning unless it impacts the game play.
