World of Warcraft ®: Dragonflight HUD and UI Revamp

You guys should consider a square map option/default.

There is unnecessary wasted space where the top right quadrant of the circle doesn’t touch the edge of the screen. You can let players toggle if they want, but I know a lot of folks prefer the square quadrant for that reason.

There should also be a toggle for x,y coordinates on map (and on world map).

The default location for health/target bars should be below the center of the character, where it would still be somewhat in the player’s field of vision. Most custom ui’s default to this as well as other games.

Maybe you can provide 2 pre-sets (“wow-classic”, “wow-modern”), for folks dead set on having a vanilla looking ui.

Still as I said in the BFA or Legion beta (can’t remember when the last ui revamp was), this is your opportunity to re-do the ui as you see fit. Take it. Especially if you can provide an “old” and “new” preset for players (in addition to saving whatever they do custom). The prior revamp had such few changes it was virtually unnoticeable.

It’s also ElvUI and SWTOR, so it could be FF14 but I think it’s more just ‘general state of the industry’.

Currently tab target will cycle through everything in front of you, including a pack that is 60 yards away and clearly out of range. For the new combat targeting, will that be happening?

Looks like I’ll finally be able to get rid of MoveAnything, which is nice because it occasionally causes errors for some reason.

One thing I’m curious about is if the new UI options allow you to set certain action bars to only be visible during combat, I use another addon to create a pseudo-hud with small actionbars around my character that disappear when I leave combat, which helps me keep track of cooldowns and such without sacrificing my overall awareness of what’s going on around me.

Looking forward to ditching bagnon and moveanything. The fewer addons, the fewer weird addon errors.

I love to see these type of changes!

Just a heads up. The new UI editor only lets you move a fraction of existing frames. It moves the good stuff, but if you want to move the tooltip frame, the FPS counter or the quest objectives, you still need to use MoveAnything.

I’m hoping the implement the larger health bars sooner rather then later. If they are already in testing I couldn’t find the setting. Also hiding the Gryphon/Wyvern are could be a little more clear.

UI revamp being a key expansion feature is like getting socks for Christmas.

good to know, thanks for the heads up, though I cannot imagine changing any of those these days.

(I’ve moved them all before, back in the days of 4:3 screens…)

This looks really good can’t wait to try it out.

Get that map out of the middle of the screen! Unacceptable! However, great job making your character a small :+1:

There is a lot I like about the current default raid frames, but Im glad you’re looking at improving them. When you look at raid frames Ive got a few suggestions:

  1. add an option that shows the number of enemies targeting the player. This helps healers play a more proactive game rather than just reactive and is probably the #1 reason I look at add-ons instead for my teams raid frames today.
  2. resizing the frames so more buffs/debuffs could be displayed woild be nice.
  3. please consider unit frames for the enemy team in pvp. Addons like battleground enemies are 100% mandatory for RBGs and Id love to have a Blizzard made option to consider as well.
  4. buff/debuff management and prioritizing what is displayed is important. This is not something I like to manage at a individual spell level though. Ive actually been quite impressed with the decisions made by the current UI as in most cases Im able to see the most important ones to be aware of.

Can we please have the option to use more buttons or what you call “icons”?
Why is the “# of icons” on an “action bar” limited to 12?
And please give us the option to use more action bars.
Especially nice would be configureable pop-up bars like for the portals of mages but with whatever you want to for example have one for ground mounts, one for professions and so on.

And while we are at UI in general, please add a method to the mini map to recolor nodes or even change the icon.
I would love to see for example have different icons for ore, herbs and fish and different colors based for example on the difficulty to mine (grey, green, orange). Or have an add-on that marks all titan ore for example as purple.

I am so thrilled for this and it looks good so far. I know others have mentioned my particular wishes, but I want to jump on the feedback train here so you know we’re excited! Thoughts:

  1. I play on a large monitor and I am hoping this UI will allow me to size smaller than the 0.65 that the current scale slider allows.
  2. I love immersion and a UI that fades out when I’m not in combat or hovering over the bar would be so amazing for really taking in the sights of Azeroth.

Thanks so much for this update!

You can move those.

If you don’t do anything, it will stay like it is now.

Ok that’s good to know.
